Poor Vocals June 24, 2008 Scott (Phoenix) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Nice guitar work from Lindsey, and overall an enjoyable performance. However, his vocals on many of the songs are strained.....out of key...and often annoying. His performances on "The Dance" and "Live in Boston" blow these away. I'd buy those before this one.
REAL LIVE , AND THEN SOME... March 29, 2008 stephen watkins (denver, co United States) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
After seeing / hearing Lindsey Buckingham ( & band) , on the 'Under The Skin' tour, it's great to have this DVD/CD package( as close to being there as a recorded document could get)to relive it! A truly great performance , with an insightful docummentary. If you appreciate Lindsey Buckingham's music, and -sometimes- manic/humorous inflections, this is a can't miss purchase. Also, 'HOLIDAY ROAD' is a blast!!!
Proof that perfectionism pays off March 30, 2008 lonesome crow (ca,) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
VH1 once described Buckingham as a "musical alchemist". And although Vh1 tends to exaggerate a bit , they nailed Buckingham right on the mark. This performance shows that he is just as good live (if not better) than he is in the studio. The DVD is very enjoyable and the songs were fantastic. This show reminds me of when I saw him in 1992 during his "Out of the Cradle tour" minus the many guitar players that were with him at that tour , in which I had the pleasure to meet him with a group of people after the show , in which he sat with us and talked to us , took photos with us , and answered any question that was thrown at him. Buckingham is a true musician at both heart and soul and this live performance really shows it and it proves that music is something that should be apart of you from inside of ourselves, not about what the music industry wants you to do.And although the documentary was a bit odd at first, This cd/ dvd is worth every dollar and then some. You will be doing yourself an injustice if you do not purchase and enjoy.
Live at the Bass Performance Hall April 20, 2008 K. Sanders (San Antonio, TX USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was an awesome concert video and cd. Lindsey Buckingham is an incredible guitar player as well as vocalist.
Great performance LB, poor choice of songs though... April 26, 2008 Dm Blackwell (UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As always a guitar playing masterclass from the God like fingers of Mr Buckingham. Those long slowly building solo's that build to a huge crescendo are in evidence once again. There are two of those in fact, and LB goes close to madness in parts by just slapping at the guitar in an almost trance-like state! And yet; the solo's still look easy for him, and sound sublimely brilliant of course! Would you expect anything less? The band is the same as on the Soundstage DVD 'TV' gig of course, and they are all great players up there on stage with LB. The setting for the concert (the truly beautiful Bass Performance Hall) looks a stunning venue to play... The performance has been lovingly recorded both for audio and video (in fact I think it's been recorded in HD even if the DVD here is SD). The one thing that IMO reduces this DVD from 5 to 4 stars in the setlist. It's a strange mixture of songs, mostly from the latest album of course. But even then the two best songs from it I think are missing (Down on Rodeo and I Am Waiting). Songs from LB's finest solo hour 'Out Of The Cradle' are criminally missing. Still, another great feast for Fleetwood Mac & LB fans.
