Puts babies to sleep July 16, 2006

This is the one! This is the miracle that puts infants and toddlers to sleep every night and nap until the end of time. We wore out four CDs and two boomboxes playing it until my daughter, at age 4, asked for quiet at night. Save your money on the other get-to-sleep hoaxes and take the ocean plunge.

Dan Gibson, may he rest in peace, made a recording of the ocean that is very accurate (Ocean Surf). But he was obviously fascinated by any and all sounds that were there to be recorded .
There's only about 17 minutes of Ocean Surf that is actually from the perspective of someone listening to the ocean (what they would actually hear) the rest of the CD is filled with the sloshing and splashing of water around tidepools and on rocks that you wouldn't hear unless you had highly directional ears and amplified hearing.
This is less than soothing, between waves these sounds that make you check to see if the kitchen sink isn't overflowing ! ! !

Ocean Surf, actually is timeless and sublime. Sounds that would never change is locked into one CD. Unlike a similar CD such as Natural Sleep Inducement, Ocean Surf is only the sounds of breaking waves. Calm and gentle, the waves librate you from stress and anxiety. If not for long, at least for the moment. With no music, the sounds are nothing but natural and pure. The waves will NOT break noisily, and disturb the quiet. The sounds of the ocean is one of the best. For sleeping or relaxing, it is worth a try.

I've tried various ocean surf CDs as a sleep aide. None works as well as this one. The rhythmic surf, uncluttered by gulls and foghorns and music, relaxes me more than anything else did.
Read the other favorable customer comments again, and believe them.
This CD is really that good.

The sound of the surf is what I was looking for but the added trickle of the water movement amound the tide pools is not restful in fact they are down right annoying.
