BEST JM ALBUM EVER! September 12, 2006 A. Bost (Houston, TX) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Ok...I know that Continuum just came out today, but I just had to get on here and write a review to let everyone out there know how awesome this cd is. I've been a JM fan for years now, and can safely say that this is his BEST cd ever. If you've always liked JM, you'll LOVE this album. If you've never liked JM, you'll LOVE this album. This is the most soulful, bluesy cd I've ever heard...it's got something I can't put my finger on. SO GOOD. Please buy it and support this incredible artist!
Perfection September 12, 2006 ILOVEBEATLES!!! (Riverside, CA USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I saw an interview with John on the Today Show a few weeks ago where he described his latest release, Continuum, as "perfect." Well, as arrogant as that may seem, he was simply telling the truth. This album is, in fact, perfect. Incorporating elements of both "Heavier Things" and "Room for Squares", which we have all come to know and love, John keeps his signature feel intact, while bringing something fresh into the blend. Some have described this album as being more of a blues album. While I agree that there is a large amount of blues styled guitar, the melodies and writting are NOT blues. In fact, I would go as far as saying that this record is more "soul" influenced than pure blues. Whatever it is, it's unique and new, and I've never really heard anything like it. John has progressed as a song crafter and a producer, and this record really shows it. I highly reccomend this album to any person who enjoyed his first two studio releases. If you haven't heard those albums yet, I would still encourage you to give this one a try. John Mayer puts his heart and soul into his recordings and creates pure masterpieces. Do yourself a big favor and buy CONTINUUM as soon as you can!

John Mayers realization and transformation into the blues guitarist he is today is what keeping music in this generation respectful, and is a helping to keep up the continuation of the blues. This new album is so souldful and really shows his maturity and what he's digging right now in his life. I give this album an infinite amount of stars, it's an amazing album. I can't wait to see what else he puts out in the future.
Another Brilliant One from John Mayer September 13, 2006 Ashleigh Clark (Chattanooga, TN USA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
If you ask me, John's outdone himself this time. In my opinion, this CD takes you back to the old John from the CD "No Such Thing" and combines it with the blues from "John Mayer Trio". I rushed out to buy the CD this evening and with one listen, fell in love with it. This is a brilliant CD and I would recommend it to everyone.
My favorite album this year September 13, 2006 Jonathan E. Rossi (Harrisburg, PA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I went from loving John Mayer when I saw him back in the late '90's, before he was a household name, to wondering what the HECK was wrong with him when Heavier Things came out, to getting stoked as can be when Try! came out. The live stuff has always been great, of course. But this is easily the best of his studio albums. I was worried that it would be a bunch of great songs, which would not be produced well, which is how I felt about Heavier Things. However, my fears were unfounded. This is an amazing album, combining the pop sensabilities that Mayer has exhibited before, with the soul and classic rock vibe that he's recently shown. Songs like Vultures (even better than on Try!), Heart of Life (song that grew on me the most as I continued to listen to the album, and I loved it even the first time I heard it)...these songs are amazing. The whole album is just incredible, and I highly recommend it.
