This Is An Awesome Album From The Queen Of Rock Herself, Very Contemporary And Current, Yet Very Much Classic Pat Benatar. Of Course Amazing Vocals, For Pat Has A Voice That Cannot (I Mean CAN-NOT) Be Matched, Not Even By Mariah Carey, And The Driving Guitars Of Neil (D'man) Giraldo Are Powerful And Full Of Rhythm, Something Most Rock Bands Are Totally Lacking These Days. The Songs Range From Mellow And Beautiful To Totally ...-Kicking Rock, It Was Well Worth The Wait For Such A Gem. Thanx Pat & Neil&&You Guys Rock !

5 out of 5 stars Its all about THAT VOICE   August 23, 2003

Once again Pat Benatar has proven (to me anyway) that her voice has no equal in rock music. There are female vocalists (like Mariah and Christina) who can out "pop" her. There male vocalists (like Plant or Daltry) who can out "rock" her. There are NO vocalists male or female who can DO IT ALL the way Pat can. As a long time Benatar fan I can hear very little difference in the way Pat sings today when compared to her sound from 25 years ago. Many vocalists lose their voice over time (Elton John and Stevie Nicks come to mind) but despite a lengthy career and an agressive style of singing, Pat proves that the punch and power she has always had is still there. On this new album Pat leaves little doubt that at 95 lbs and 50 plus years old she can still kick some serious Rock and Roll...

I won't bore you with any "song by song" ratings. What I will say is that if you are a Benatar fan you cannot help but love this album. It is at least as strong a record as earlier releases like "Tropico" or "Wide Awake in Dreamland" and in some ways surpasses them. Instrumentally I think this may be Neil Giraldo's best effort. Like fine wine some musicians improve with age. Neil's work here is a fine example of that. Together Pat and Neil have combined to provide a new and in some ways improved "Benatar" album. The quality in their sound and writing has evolved and matured. This new album manages to sound contemporary yet at the same time deeply rooted in their own musical past. I have no illusions that this record will put Pat at the top of the charts again. Pat's days at the top were 20 years ago and I don't expect that will change. What this record can do is prove to those that care to listen, that Pat is still here and that her voice is still the fine instrument that we remember it to be. I hope this is not the last we hear from Pat & Neil. Sometimes you see "old veterans" stick around a little longer than they should until their act borders on embarrassing. Pat has nothing to be emabarrassed about on GO. It is a strong album, equal to Pat in her prime and a fine addition to her catalog.

5 out of 5 stars Rock Goddess & Pop Culture ICON refuses to "GO"   August 24, 2003

Quick Note *if you watch MTV & if you pay attention to what the Music Industry couch potatoes say from their penthouse offices in New York & LA, you are more than likely missing out on some great music.

That being said, Pat Benatar is back with a cd that packs a powerful punch right into the gut of the labels that could have been graced with her presence. That is right YOU HEARD IT FIRST. If the music industry wants to tell the newbies how to sound ...ok whatever...but don't mess with a 4 time grammy winning, Rock ICON like Pat Benatar. She has a strong fan base that will support her with or without a MONSTER label attached.

"GO" features some real rockers such as the title track and "Have It All" & the empowering "Girl". If you like ballads "Please Don't Leave Me" will not disappoint you. "Brave" is an amazing song that is both lyrically appealing and rhythmically catchy. This could easily be a hit single. This is a poignant and timely song for who we are and where we are today.

My two personal faves are "Sorry" & "In My Dreams". The best way I can describe these two songs is to have you imagine Pat Benatar providing vocals for Carlos Santana. I say this as a total compliment to Neil Giraldo. Neil Giraldo, if you did not know, plays many roles for Pat a couple being husband and guitar genious. If you have not caught a live performance from Pat/Neil do yourself a favor and "GO". Pat is vocally stunning (the bubblegum girls don't compare to Pat Live) and Neil is a showman that makes it hard to keep your eyes on Pat....I digress ... "Sorry" should be a top 10 hit. The song is as modern rock as you can get and has a great little latin/spanish groove to go along with it. Great Song...may become my all time favorite Pat Benatar song. "In My Dreams" another groovy modern rocker that also reminds me of a Santana song. I think Pat/Neil & Carlos should do some work together. I think they would make beautiful music. After all is said and done you won't find a wasted track on the entire cd. This may be the comeback of a Rock ICON. Too bad there won't be any major labels around to suck up the profits....ohhh "SORRY" did I say that out loud?

I'm sure they are not worried. There are plenty of Christina Spears types around to make them some more UNDESERVED money.

Later, I have to "GO"!

5 out of 5 stars Great Album   August 25, 2003

I purchased the Album when it was first relased, the new songs are great and remind me of why she was and still is one of Rock's endearing artist. Time has not affected her ability to belt out some compelling new work. Her voice is better than ever and evident on numerous tracks. I recently saw her live a few days ago and all I can say is "Amazing". A terrific show, a great performer with an amazing voice. Any true Benatar Fan will be more than excitingly satisfied with the new album.
