1 out of 5 stars Only God Knows Why... anyone would call this music   September 10, 2000

And even then, I use the term music VERY loosely. Dear God, what do the demons of MTV expose the common man to? Here we have Kid Rock, an talentless performer, with an equally untalented band, creating bland and repetitive music, filtered and over-produced for the masses. And the critics love it! I have heard this album called revolutionary, and a pioneer of the rap-metal sound. Some musicians hve been combining rap with rock for years, folks, and 99% of them do it much better that Kid Rock. It amazes me that a drunken hillbilly who raps(badly) about how great he is(he's the bullgod, he's a cowboy, he's an american badass... sheesh!) has attained fame, fortune, and regular rotation on MTV, while bands with more musical talent in their big toes toil in semi-obscurity. I don't know what else to say, other than don't buy this CD! Don't give into the mainstream. Then use the money that you save, and please, check out at least one of these bands: (hed)pe, reveille, linkin park, stuck mojo, or crazy town.

Let me start off by saying that who ever runs the lists for "essential" (and i use that term lightly around here) rap rock lists on Amazon is a total retard. Even listing this in the essential rap rock cds is just plain stupid. BUT LISTING IN NUMBER ONE??!! WHAT THE f***!? I mean really, over RATM? Are you guys crazy? Kid rock sucks bad and couldnt make good music if he tried. Come one and all MTV worshipping losers, you have found your calling.

(Now heres the best part, where the pop punk loser clicks the "not helpful" button)

his lack of talent and trailor park metality make his work more fit for Jerry than for a musical challenge.he is talentless pure garbage the kind of stuff that is overly promoted today.what a true no-talent bum.

1 out of 5 stars Is this what "rock" has come to?   April 30, 2000

"Rap-metal". Isn't that an oxymoron? Of course it is, yet many of the so-called rock bands around today fit that description. Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock, being the most obvious offendors. Trash like this album simply do not belong in the rock section at music stores, it is an insult to good music. The only reasons kids are buying this album like hotcakes is because a)the antichrist known as eMpTVy told them to b)because it has "cuss words" in it, that makes them feel like they are rebelling (listen to real heavy metal with language instead, Pantera, for example), and c)because it's played endlessly on the radio. Bawitdaba, what the hell is that? Lyrics in music used to mean something. Kids should stop listening to trash like this and read some lyrics by real rock poets such as Roger Waters and Neil Peart, and while they're at it, they should chance a listen at some of the few good bands left today such as Dream Theater and Gov't Mule.

1 out of 5 stars I miss Billy Joel...   October 14, 1999

Please, for the love of humanity, Billy, start touring again!! Look what I got stuck with in your absence! Just LOOK at this, LOOK AT THIS MONSTROSITY, and SHUDDER!!!

I have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER how you people can listen to garbage like this! Kid Rock is a disgrace to the music world! His badly written, poorly-coordinated, tuneless songs are nothing but a list of profanities, held loosely together by a backdrop of sex, sexism, rape, murder, and drugs!

Where has music gone? Whatever happened to songs that DIDN'T feature the "F" word every two seconds? Whatever happened to songs with a point, with value? Whatever happened to lyrics? For goodness sake, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MELODIES?!?

And DON'T any of you teenagers think that I'm some old fogie wishin' for the old days, 'cuz I'm NOT! I am proud to be fourteen years old and still infused with the BASIC HUMAN VALUES that this music rips to shreds. I mean, one APPROPRIATELY-PLACED swear word here and there, along with a nice tune, yeah, that works fine! All of the great rock and roll artists of the past (The Beatles, the Indigo Girls, Bruce Springsteen, etc.) sometimes use an expletive to make their music more powerful. But an "F-this" or "F-that" EVERY OTHER WORD? Now come on, those of you who think that's appropriate for ANY SANE HUMAN BEING to be listening to, please raise your tentacles!

And those critics are WONDERING why America's youth is going down the toilet!!! Two words, people: Kid Rock. Synonymous with "Bad Music." Or rather, not music at all. You CAN'T call this music. Music, my friends, is WORTH listening to.

Don't buy this CD, folks, if you value your life. If you value ANYTHING.

PS... KoRn, Limp Bizkit, and all of you sexist rappers out there, this goes for you too!!!!!!
