execellent mix of all music types October 10, 2007 Sky W. Tripp (baltrimore, Md) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Ok so when I first listened to kid rock he seemed sort of juvenile. Like ICP or weezer, That is why this album blew me away it has such depth, the arrangement of songs is perfect. It covers his excellent ability to blend hillbilly rock to rap to punk and the best song is adult contemporary song "roll on". If u buy one rock album buy this one!!
Not worth purchasing October 11, 2007 Ryan Milton (Huntsville, AL. USA) 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have liked past Kid Rock stuff. I think he laid a goose egg with this. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is he is good but this cd is not. If you like it happy for you but he can do much better get over Pam already please then go crank something out.
AMEN!!!!! October 14, 2007 Petty Fan (U.S,) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
It may not top Devil Without A Cause, but it is a solid rock effort. It has the trademark Kid Rock bangers and laid back slow ones.Rock N Roll Jesus,Amen,All Summer Long,So Hot and Don't Tell Me U Love Me are the standout tracks. 2 bonus tracks are included on the version I purchased from a local record store, beside the other bonus track included on all copies. Guilty and a "Live" version of, Jackson,Mississippi.Guilty is a real cool rocker which should have been included on the album anyway. If you like the Kid's music and have supported him ,check this one out. It is real good stuff. A solid 4.5 from me. get it now!!!!

The new single is simple and generic. The album shows some growth but still not impressive.
Almost perfect......ALMOST December 22, 2007 marinersrock07 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Having never owned COCKY or KID ROCK, I made the huge leap from DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE to the k-i-d's new one. This one, I am very pleased to say, is almost flawless. Gone is the needless swearing and being offensive just for the sake of being offensive. Gone (thankfully) is the long outdated rap-rock sound. In is a much heavier classic rock and country influence. These two types of music give Kid Rock a bigger pallete to work with, and even if he wears his influences on this sleeve, this album is so fun to listen to that you can't help but like it. From the busy intro of the title track, replete with horns and background singers, to the honky-tonk humor of "Half Your Age", Rock sounds as if he's having more fun than he's ever had in making a record, and he wants you to join in on his fun. There's also the Elton John-esque "Blue Jeans and a Rosary" (the most contemplative and respectful song I've ever heard from Rock), and the spectacular mash-up of Warren Zevon and Lynrd Skynrd in "All Summer Long". Don't judge this album by the audio samples; the entire album deserves a listen for its sheer variety and the inspired vividness of its overall sound. Kid Rock has matured his sound incredibly, and not one song sounds similar. From heavy rock to acoustic, from soul balladry to country, this is a great album that is extremely fun in its unpredictability, especially during the first listen. Any of these could sound great as a rock or country classic. I should note, then, why I give this album four stars instead of five. The reason is I don't like the songs "Sugar" and "New Orleans". The former tries to trick one into thinking this is a classic-rock-based track with a gentle acoustic intro, but then all of a sudden the music gets louder and Kid starts (sigh!) rapping. This is the only song where he does so. To me, this exhibited nothing but a fear of losing his original fanbase and original sound. The rapping is F-word laden, just like anything on DEVIL, and sounds completely out of place with what's on the rest of the album. "New Orleans" is an incredibly long, boring, and pointless song about how much Kid loves the French Quarter. It has a massively-long instrumental buildup, then Rock enters with this nasaly voice that sounds weirdly distorted and nothing like him at all. Scratch these two songs, and this album is PERFECT. As I said before, this album is very much worth the buy. It's varied, inspired, and undeniably fun. Scratch the two aforementioned songs, and this will be one of the best CDs you'll have heard in a long time.
