We are using this scanner in a busy college library and we are extremely pleased with both performance and design. It's fast, easy, and relatively inexpensive. I highly recommend this scanner for any small office environment.

5 out of 5 stars Does everything I expected   May 12, 2007

I got this scanner in order to convert lots of old paper records to PDF files. It has worked just as I hoped. It scans quickly, even scanning double sided documents in a single pass, and rarely ever mis-feeds or reads two sheets at once. OCR is not perfect, but this is a problem with the OCR software, not the scanner. I have yet to find OCR software that works really well. However, I generally just scan documents as 200 dpi images since I don't really need to convert them to text.

This little baby is getting the job done. Our office just went paperless and we have been relying on this machine with no problems so far.The software is very good and should let most people do everything they need to.Xerox support is excellent if you need to ask any questions. Also the price is right on this machine.I highly recomend it.

5 out of 5 stars great scanner, does everything advertised   January 24, 2008

This scanner does the trick.

I have a Thinkpad computer running Windows XP which I purchased back in 2003.

The included software is enough for my own needs: I just needed software that will convert what I scan into .pdf files. The software does allow for some adjustments such as resolution and page size. It will also automatically straighten pages and will turn pages right side up. I can add fields to the document and I can combine .pdf's or separate pages from within a single file.

The hardware is pretty solid. The compactness is nice for the crowded desk that I have. At a reasonable grayscale resolution, the scanner can scan a stack of duplex documents fairly quickly. I have not encountered any paper jams (unless I forget to remove a staple or the paper is particular mangled to begin with). I can load up the feeder, hit the button and walk away.

I have had this for about four months now. I have scanned literally boxes of documents (I saved all my course packets from school. Hey, I paid for them, right?). This machine is a work horse!

This machine is reasonably priced and is well worth it for the peace of mind of having a clutter-free work area.

2 out of 5 stars Can't Get Replacement ADF Pad   January 25, 2008

This scanner worked wonders the first day I used it. I scanned about 200 pages that all turned out nicely. There were a few jams but were easy to fix. The second day everything went to pot. There is a little rubber pad that keeps the pages going straight. This part stopped doing its job after about 60 pages and then everything went squeegee. I went to the Xerox support website that offers replacement parts. They didn't have the part! I then contacted Office Max where I had ordered it and they no longer have the part! All they could do was send a whole new scanner to replace mine. I checked google for the part and found it costs over $35 to replace! This isn't worth the hassle. It's too bad because the scanner looks nice on my desk and does a very nice job until the part goes out.
