Only worth $9.99 paid January 12, 2008 Peggy (Norfolk, VA United States) 5 out of 15 found this review helpful
It's hard to imagine the regular price of this item getting any buyers. I bought it on one of the lightening deals after reading one of the reviewer's plans to use it to hold office supplies which I thought was a great idea. It is nice quality thin perforated stainless steel bar which unlike some Chinese stainless hopefully will not rust. It has to be nailed or screwed to a wall though. I was planning to use it on my lateral metal file cabinet which of course I cannot unless I use double faced foam tape which may not be strong enough to hold the weight of scissors or a stapler. It may end up on the garage wall for small metal tools or a gift in the Goodwill box.
Great quality, easy and secure mounting, beautiful high tech product January 10, 2008 Benjamin Walters (North Carolina) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just received this and it's a godsend. Mounted it inside a kitchen cabinet door and it effortlessly holds all our Henkel knives that were previously cluttering up our counter top in their bulky knife blocks. Magnet is extretmely strong and holds our biggest knives, sharpening awl, and kitchen shears with ease. Our knives are handy, clean, and neat and the beautifully finished magnetic bar adds a custom built-in look to even the inside of our cabinets.
It's well worth $10 January 25, 2008 Lauren Gale (No Left Turn, NJ) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this because I thought it would be worth it to get the knife block off of the counter. But, on second thought, I've decided to use it on the workbench assembly (ASIN: B00006RGKY) I just bought for screwdrivers. I would say that it's easy to dent. I received mine with a small dent on the top, then managed to put another dent in it since. The perforated surface is a double edged sword, but attractive nonetheless. And it's very strong. Its strength makes me wonder if it's safe for the blade edges of my knives. I've feared banging a knife against it and chipping, which is why I decided to use it in my shop instead.
I can use it for something January 7, 2008 R. Edlund 2 out of 53 found this review helpful
I too, ordered this without a need. I reload my own ammunition and do general firearm maintainance. Maybe I can use it to organize that stuff. It might come in handy for tools in the garage. Who knows????? I will post a review when it arrives and also what I am using it for. Gold Haaa
Better than my previous Ikea version January 15, 2008 K. McAllister (Tehachapi, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had an Ikea brand kitchen knife magnet and have been a bit disappointed in it, as the magnets are spaced on the back of the rack--and force your knives into spots that you might not like them to be, at times causing them to rub together or be far apart, creating an uneven spacing... This rack, on the other hand, is awesome! It is shorter (that part is too bad--and the reason I only put 4 stars) than my previous version, but because it is an evenly magnetized bar, I can put my knives anywhere, and it holds all of the knives I had on my 21" bar from Ikea. It is very strong--I use Wusthof knives--and have 2 large chef knives, a long bread knife, sandwich knife, tomato knife, 2 all purpose knives, 2 paring knives, and a bird beak knife--all on there securely and safely. I could even add a couple more small ones (or one large) as long as I am careful not to let them touch. These magnetic racks keep your blades sharp (no wooden block to dull them) and stored safely (no reaching into the drawer). The finish is nice--very modern and easy to clean. The installation took minutes. I wish I had the opportunity to buy more of these at the lightening deal price (9.99) but I must say that at the higher price, it's still not a bad deal. I paid 30 for the Ikea one that looked "okay" (it had exposed screws, where this one has the screws hidden)... and expecting that this is going to be a permenant fixture in the kitchen, the regular Amazon price isn't too bad.
