Best thing I've ever bought May 14, 2007 Richard Martin (Houston, TX United States) 17 out of 21 found this review helpful
This may be the best item I've ever bought in my life. For $35, it is incredible value because of it's almost perfect weight (how do they know?), intuitive controls, and great for those thoughts that hit you when you are doing other tasks (especially driving)...wish every product I bought was like this. Amazing...
Wrong item! July 2, 2007 D. Hernandez (San Marcos, CA USA) 17 out of 39 found this review helpful
I was also sent the wrong item. There are two versions of the VN-4100: one is just a recorder with NO WAY to download files to a PC. The second version is the VN-4100PC which allows you to download your files to a computer. I received the non-PC version and now have to return the one they sent. I will have to argue for shipping charges to be reversed.
item not what advertised July 4, 2007 sandra lee 16 out of 30 found this review helpful
Purchased this item - "Olympus VN4100PC Digital Voice Recorder" - from Amazon, but what arrived was not the PC uploadable version of the recorder. Instead, it was the Olympus VN4100 Digital Voice Recorder, which ISN'T uploadable. First time I have a serious problem with Amazon, but it's one that's worth noting.
Don't buy it from Office Deport! June 1, 2007 Zero G (Green Brook, NJ USA) 15 out of 21 found this review helpful
I order the VN4100PC from this web page. But the actually model office deport delivered is VN4100, the model without PC link. And their customer service refuse to corrected the mistake when I called. I have to return the order. BAD buying experience!
Be VERY careful - multiple vendors are shipping the VN4100 June 20, 2007 Mary Ann Gieszelmann (Roseville, CA) 15 out of 23 found this review helpful
Two previous vendors have shipped me the VN4100 instead of the VN4100PC: Tiger Direct and Office Depot. Tiger Direct sent me a return label; I had opened the package carefully before I caught the switch, so I don't know if they'll give me the full refund. I caught the switch on Office Depot order from their confirmation e-mail but was unable to cancel the order. They told me to refuse the shipment, but there was no offer to pay for return shipping. After a second e-mail, they are paying return shipping AND sending the VN4100PC at the same price. Before I ordered a third time, I e-mailed the supplier (Electronics something or other); they didn't even stock the PC version. I have e-mailed Amazon customer support about this twice; I got stonewalled each time. It seems they don't care about the false advertising. I just got the following reply from XP Passport (desire@xppassport.com):

I am emailing you back to let you know that Yes we realize that Amazon had it miss-listed. But we have fixed our listing and are shipping the 4100PC. If you have any other questions please email me back.
Thank you,
Desire

From this, it looks like Amazonis at fault, but it has yet to admit it's mistake, Maybe it's finally fixed.
