wireless noisy November 2, 2005 Rob (San Diego, CA) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I was a bit disappointed in how noisy the wireless handset is when only a short distance (20-30 feet) from the base station. I expected better from a 5.8 GHz unit. Other than that, a decent setup. It is a nice feature to have the corded base for when the battery on the handset goes dead or someone leaves it under the sofa cushions, you can still run over to the base and answer. Answering machine and callerid function as expected.
Would actually rate this as a 0 star if I could August 4, 2006 Supermommy (Kansas) 16 out of 21 found this review helpful
I just received this product from Amazon, charged it for the 20 hours and tried to use it, the hand held phone kept hanging up. We read the box and called customer service, Uniden singlehandedly has the ABSOLUTE worse customer service I have ever spoken with, I was told to try something if that didn't work it needed to sent in and repaired, then I was hung up on. We tried what they suggested, so we called back their customer service, waiting another 20 minutes for someone to answer, was told it would take 2-4 weeks to get a replacement when I said that would be too long I was told to return it to the store and then hung up on. I then notice on the owners manual it asks you to not return it to the store, so again I call back and am told yes return it to the store. Thankfully Amazon has a VERY easy replacement process where they actually pay the shipping, so I was easily able through Amazon to get a refund and I will now purchase ANY other brand besides Uniden, this phone might have been a fluke, but their customer service was so terrible I think it would be easier to never buy another one of their products so I will never have to call them again.
CAN'T USE HANDSET MORE THAN FEW FEET FROM BASE!!! March 14, 2006 Janis 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Pros affordable full featured (records conversations, handset feels good in hand, unit has corded phone back up for power outages. Cons CAN'T USE HANDSET MORE THAN FEW FEET FROM BASE!!! No mention was made in the literature that the handset cannot be moved more than a few feet from the base unit for reception of signal. When I called Customer Service they said that was expected behavior. I said I'd had other 5.8 GHz phones and could traverse entire house and even yard from same base location. They said that was a 5.8 Digital not ANALOG phone....... This makes the phone virtually worthless. I tried every suggestion onm website for that symptom. No improvement. Very diappointing performance. Unacceptable.
Peace of mind, good sound, but "channels" could stand improvement August 31, 2005 This just in: (Maryland) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
The title says it all. This phone provides peace of mind, with the landline that won't go dead when the electricity goes away. The second unit sits in a small cradle, and does not have to be connected to a phone jack. This is great. The answering machine works well. The sound is great, and for me, hard of hearing as I am, it provides ample opportunity for adjustment to make it so I can hear. Only one complaint: The channels are not always available at their best. When you hit an area that reception is not great, the phone makes a scratchy noise, letting you know that it needs to be moved to a different area. All in all, I do like this phone very much. Oh, there is just one more thing: When you do "call-waiting" and click the "talk" button, there is a hesitation before you will know that you have connected to the other party, so don't hang up thinking that there is no one there. I do like the phone a lot, and very much appreciate the ability to have both a land line and a portable unit, all for less than some single telephones, without all of the extras! It's a goodie!
As advertised and works very well October 25, 2005 GH @ ROC (NY) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Have had this unit in place for more than a month. Every thing works as advertised and has some nice features. There are a confusing number of buttons with some titles not untuitively indicative of the the function that will be performed. Sound is excellent and have no interference on both the wireless and hard wired functions. I have a wireless system for my computer and it has not had any effect on the operation. Would recommend this to anyone who wants the available features and needs only one remote unit.
