DONT BELIEVE THE BAD, TRY YOURSELF! January 27, 2008 Matthew B. Gardiner (Mount Airy, MD USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I almost didn't purchase this phone due the some of the poor reviews. I am so glad I gave it a try. Most of the negative reviews include such misinformation as: poor sound quality, no sound produced when depressing keys, poor battery life, etc. must have come from individuals who did not take the time to read the detailed step-by-step instructions which came with the phones. There is much information as the CD445 series phones have many great features, all which perform as advertised. Some of the really great features include the ability to plug in a headset, check and record messages on the answering machine from any phone anywhere in your home (CD4452B/37 models), screen phone calls from anywhere in your home, easily add Caller ID numbers to your phone with the press of a few buttons, speakerphone, back-lit keypad, clean modern look and solid construction. The sound quality is much more crisp than previous phones, with no ambient interference. I did a lot of research before purchasing, and we thoroughly tested before filing this review. We are very pleased with these new phones.
Worst Phone Ever, I Guarantee It. April 4, 2008 J. Humphrey (hyde park, ny, usa) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Volume is way way way too low. If you hate yourself or even if you hate those who will one day have to use your phone, than BUY THIS ONE. Let me tell you about the one I got. Beside being acoustically challenged (Think Mimes), It actually has a really neat feature... At least one time on every phone call it will cut out. But here is where it gets good. Only my side cuts out, I can still here the other party just as low and unintelligible as always. Well, at least until they hang up on me. All the while, I'll be screaming something like "HELLO, HELLO, why can't you here me, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? That sort of thing. Don't get me wrong, the plastic wrapper the part that actually needs to reach out and touch someone comes in is a very attractive indeed. But then again, I have been told that I am attractive and I don't make a very good phone. Mantel piece, perhaps (lame), phone, try again. I award this phone no points, and my god have mercy on its softly spoken soul.
Nice Phone January 17, 2008 U. Lim (San Francisco, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I never encountered any problem with this phone like the ones described before. Range wise, I use one handset about 40 feet away from the base station day in and day out, through rooms and hallways. No problem there! Design wise, this is the most best looking phone outside of B&O that I've found. Beats all the ugly Panasonic and Vtech products out there. This is the best value for money, and a solid "5" for me
Simply the Best I found February 12, 2008 Stephen A. Bjork (Carlsbad, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This phone replaces all the terrible corded phones, answering machines, caller ID boxes, Intercoms, and many other phone gadgets I acquired over the years. It also eliminated the entire quirky in-home phone wiring that I now have to pay a third party to maintain. Simply put, you need only ONE active phone jack to plug the main unit into, and from there, all the satellite handsets connect wirelessly. If you need a phone in a different location, you only need to attach one of the small handsets to an electrical outlet. Garage, pool, garden, wherever. The DECT 6.0 frequency no longer interferes with my 2.4 Ghz wireless internet router, and the signal is far superior to that of the old 2.4 and 5.8 phones. The battery life, I heard was questionable, but the phone comes with cheap rechargeable, AA or AAA. The phone uses ordinary rechargeable not the special or proprietary type, so get some good ones at the corner market. Voice clarity is outstanding. Works like a cell phone, enter number then, "talk" to dial. The look and feel is a European-design, sleek and small, with easy to see illuminated buttons. You won't be disappointed. Philips nailed this one. You may opt for the color screen version, but it is larger, more expensive and cumbersome but doesn't add any additional features. Finally, you can use the speakerphone on all handsets, retrieve messages from all handsets, and transfer calls and just use as an intercom between rooms in your home. There are many other features so read the specs for yourself. I am totally pleased and have ordered more handsets for about $27 each.
Excellent extra handset for a great series of phones July 15, 2008 sskein (New York, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just purchased this extra handset for a base phone I previously purchased and reviewed: Philips CD 4401 High DefVoice Cordless Speaker Phone. In a nutshell, I like this series because it has a lot of options that, if you take the time to read the instructions, will make your life easier. Moreover, it doesn't have unnecessary options (like an answering machine) that I do not need. (See my review for the base phone for more details.) It was very easy to register this new handset to my existing base after I read the instructions more carefully. (I had assumed I could figure it out without reading them. My bad!) I also found it very easy to transfer my existing phonebook on my base handset to the new handset. I like that if my caller ID list is checked on one handset, the indicator light for both handsets shut off. Again, smart features, simple design, good quality. I love these phones.
