More Fragile than Advertised; Pain to Assemble April 28, 2008 jedi 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
First, it was not that easy to assemble - access to various parts while assembly is difficult. After some hard work assembling (needed 2 people), we used the product on fairly loose soil with grass. It kept on entangling in the grass, requiring manual clean-up of tines every 2-3 feet. So the advice would be to actually clean and mow the grass as much as you can before tilling - kind of odd as you would want a tiller to be able to till over ordinary grass lawn. Anyway, the machine circuit breaker would go out every so often, either because of grass or a small rock, requiring resetting/manual checks and cleaning. After about 6 feet by 6 feet tilling (it works well if the land is clear and there is no grass and rocks), the unit's circuit breaker gave out on the very first day, not to recover from any resetting. Called customer service - they were not the most helpful at first, asking us a thousand questions, putting us on hold, then the phone line getting cut off and so on. Finally, after talking to a manger (who was actually helpful) returned product for repairs (going through painful disassembly), and got the it back (they did not charge us anything for repairs so that is nice). We haven't had the courage to assemble it yet - and have worked on our garden manually - disappointing for first-time gardeners. Best advice - check other competitive products - if you do get this one, 1. use it early so you can find out any problems (you may return it through Amazon, if needed - thankfully Amazon has excellent return policies, but we were too late in opening so could not return the defective product) 2. clean out the area of any entangling grass or vines/rocks etc. and then start tilling. Grass has to be removed manually from the tines so it is better to clean the land yourself manually if you can.

Great tiller October 22, 2007 Paul Weller 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The tiller worked great, beyond my expectations. When you look at the advertizers video, that is how it will work. I used it in raised flower beds, and rocky soil. And it worked great in both areas. I would buy this again, if I had to.
Mantis is a Winner! November 21, 2007 Todd Martin (No. Cal) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Awesome product! Works as advertised! Made powder of my clay soil. Its a little bit of work to use, easy assembly. Watch the DVD that comes w/it before doing anything. Amazon offered the best deal I could find & as a prime member I ordered Sunday evening & assembled my tiller on Tuesday afternoon. I'm very pleased with Amazon & Mantis. Both are top shelf.
What a great product April 9, 2008 Randall Catalano (Newark, CA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I reluctantly purchased the electric version, because of issues with small gas engines over time. I'm very happy I did. I've used both and the electric version is much better, quiet and powerful. My only concern is running over the cord, which I already did, once. Luckly the motor stops instantly, saving the cord from damage.
