Handy to have June 6, 2008 loves2read (Oklahoma) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This tiller is very light weight, quiet and easy to use. This is perfect for sandy soils and loams. Not so good on compacted clay. The kickstand has been a nice addition. Tines come off easily for cleaning. Love not having to store gas anymore.
The Thines did not have holes so that it can be attached to the shaft April 11, 2008 Barbara Blau 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Thines did not have holes so that it can be attached to the shaft. I had extra expense sending them back to Mantis Very unhappy with the extra expenses and the delay in being able to use the equipment.

I just received the Mantis Electric Tiller last week. I too was skeptical about an electric tiller and did a great deal of research. Now understand , that I am 64 years old.. live in Rocky New England. I love to garden but due to the rocky nature of my soil it was becoming increasingly more difficult to expand my garden. I received the tiller in just a few days. Put it together by myself(get a rachet set) in about 1 hr.I tried it today. Holy mackrel!!!!! The Mantis Tiller took on every thing.. rocks ,roots, grass. I thought .. that the tines would break for sure.. no way.I did in 2hrs what would have taken me more than two weeks to do with pichfork and shovel and so much better. I am sold!!!!!. Do yourself a favor.. get one!

I bought this as a Birthday present for my wife. We have a big tiller but she dose not like taking it out for small jobs as it is a hassle. I got the electric for ease of use but was apprehensive about the torque it would provide. There was no need to be apprehensive the mantis has plenty of power. The mantis worked very well as a small tiller, It worked even better at mixing compost in to the soil (Also very handy breaking up the compost pile prior to spreading). The Mantis cut through roots up to 3/8" handily but, jumped over bigger ones. You need to get the weed reducers they should come with the machine but they don't. The kick stand is pretty handy and, I have not used the edger yet but, I am sure it will work fine. Assembly was easy maybe 10 minutes. An added plus was the fact that it was very quiet to use having no loud engine to deal with was very nice, I LOVE this tiller & Highly reccomend it.
It Breaks Up The Soil! June 4, 2008 Barbara Lynch-johnson (Trenton, New Jersey) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently started reading books, magazines and articles on "how to garden". It suggested that soil tilling is an absolute must to improve the quality of your garden. I looked at gas tillers but was skeptical because of the using fuel, and thought that electric tillers didn't have much power. This is not so with the Mantis Electric Tiller, this customer made a wise purchase!!!
