ECONOMICAL & THE BEST MOWER September 24, 2008 MJ (MONTGOMERY, IL United States) I bought this mower in late spring & we used it the whole summer. We used to have a Craftsman gas lawn mower, but it clonked out after using it for only 3 summers, & despite the yearly maintenance we did. We then tried the Black & Decker electric but the cord keeps on getting in the way. We decided to quit spending so much money on expensive lawn mowers & decided to try the manual one. My husband was hesitant because he thought of those days he had as a kid using a manual mower. Well, he's happy with this one. It's much lighter to manouver around a small yard, less noise, no awful engine smell, blade is self-sharpening, no need to change oil or filters, & no need to spend money on gas & electricity. Also, it's a great workout for both of us. The bad thing it doesn't do a good-even cut of the grass & you have to go over more than once. Overall, the pros outweigh the con. My sister even bought a manual one from Lowes because her Craftsman broke down, too.
Gilmour push lawn mower September 29, 2008 Good product, fast delivery. Works well and doesn't need maintenance; for my small yard, this is a good choice. However, the grass catcher does not function well; it doesn't hook well and it doesn't catch well.
Gilmour 20 inch reel mower October 13, 2008 Sproutie (IL) I surprised my husband with this purchase and he rolled his eyes when it came but he now enjoys this mower. It is easy setup. Little twigs do get caught up in it. My husband and I gave it 4 stars because it does have loud scraping sound to it and maybe it just needs to be broke in more.
Good value October 16, 2008 Sara Harris (Seabeck, WA) I have not used the mower too many times yet, but it definitely does the job on my tiny yard. I was all about getting the maximum width for my price, but with the teeny size of my yard I probably could have gotten a smaller mower for the little spaces I have to get into. However, this mower perfoms very well--it was a breeze to set up, and the blades easily raise and lower. The grass catcher gets most everything, although sometimes it takes a little sweep of the back of the mower to get everything moving into the catcher. All in all, great product.
Gilmore Reel Mower October 24, 2008 Louisa Klaven I really enjoy using it--no cranks to pull, no gas to buy, refill, no odors when mower is in use. It doesn't cut as evenly as a gas mower does, but I love it. It's easy being green!
