Good Lawn Mower June 19, 2008 Customer (Newport Beach, CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Gilmour 20-Inch Reel Mower with Grass Catcher #RM30 The lawn mower arrived in 3 days even with the free shipping. It assembled easily and works as promised. I have a small yard about 600 sf and I finish it in about 10 minutes. Grass catcher catches about 80% of the grass - which is fine.

Cuts great but it's LOUD August 4, 2008 E. Damato (Ohio) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This mower cuts really well, but those who say this mower is too loud are right on the money. It's a lot louder than other reel mowers I've tried. When I first tried it, my wife could hear it in the house, which is well sealed and was closed up with the A/C on. After a few minutes, it started to squeal so loud it hurt my ears (really). I oiled it, but that only temporarily relieved the squealing, and after about 5 minutes, it started squealing again. If it weren't for the noise level, I would like this mower. It cuts well and is one of the few reel mowers that offers a 3-inch cutting height, which is essential for people who do organic lawn care. I contacted the company and was told that my complaint about the noise was the first they'd heard. So, always remember-- call the company. The very nice person I dealt with said she would let their engineers know. The only other draw-back is that the grass catcher is a little on the small side, so it fills up too quickly (but that could have been because my grass was a bit too long when I tried it). If they solve the noise problem, I would give it another try.
I love it August 7, 2008 Kimberly M. Sowa (Minnesota, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first it was very noisy and squeaky. Now that I have adjusted it, and put some WD40 and using it, it has calmed to almost nothing. It is now quiet, cheap to use, works great on longer grass, though I did need to go over it a few times. Good exercise, no gas fumes to contend with, blades self sharpening, etc. The reason I had purchased this is that my push gas mower has puked, wondering something that was much cheaper and more energy efficient to use. I love it
Go for it August 14, 2008 J. Harrington (Nottingham, NH USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this in May and have used it as my main mower for a 10,000 sq. ft. lawn. Assembly was easy and I used it right away without adjustments. For background, although somewhat flat, my lawn is not even. Although surrounded by trees, I do not make pre-mowing inspections of the lawn for twigs, etc. and have not had any jamming issues. I find pushing the mower as easy as my gasoline mower, although you can not stroll with it. It does a close enough job to the gas mower not to worry about it. I do overlap my rows. I have had no problems with the mower, the quality seems to be good. I cannot compare to other companies because I haven't used them. I bought this one due to it's 20 inch width. I do not use the grass catcher as I want the clippings to fertilize the lawn. If you are reading this, you obviously are contemplating a reel mower, I say go for it. Not using gas and the quietness of it is worth it. You will even get some exercise.
