4 out of 5 stars Nice mower   June 26, 2008

I am satisfied with my purchase so far. We'll see how it fares over the next few years. Smelled funny, but I attribute that to being made in China. Who knows what else that was shipped with, or where it was made there in China.
Quick shipping, blah blah blah

4 out of 5 stars Lawn Mower Nostalgia   July 7, 2008
James Hendershot
I purchased this reel push mower so I could mow my dogs pen without having to rake grass. It works great, is easy to push in all but really high grass.

I wish the bag held more grass. But all in all it was a good buy. I would definately recommend it to someone for mowing a small area.

4 out of 5 stars Retro Lawnmower   July 12, 2008
M. G. Hanson (Raytown, MO)
Very pleased with this product! I mow my yard twice a week because some tall weedy grasses (crab and nut) are difficult to cut if allowed to get to tall. But the lawn looks great afterwards and I look forward to mowing and the exercise. It has been 50 years since I pushed a non powered mower, but it pushes easily and I can mow in the cooler early morning or late evening hours because it is so much quieter. Cutting more often and less length is probably better for my grass! Using a nonpowered non-selfpropelled push mower is better for me, my yard, and the enviroment!

2 out of 5 stars Cuts great but it's LOUD   August 4, 2008

This mower cuts really well, but those who say this mower is too loud are right on the money. It's a lot louder than other reel mowers I've tried. When I first tried it, my wife could hear it in the house, which is well sealed and was closed up with the A/C on. After a few minutes, it started to squeal so loud it hurt my ears (really). I oiled it, but that only temporarily relieved the squealing, and after about 5 minutes, it started squealing again.

If it weren't for the noise level, I would like this mower. It cuts well and is one of the few reel mowers that offers a 3-inch cutting height, which is essential for people who do organic lawn care.

I contacted the company and was told that my complaint about the noise was the first they'd heard. So, always remember-- call the company. The very nice person I dealt with said she would let their engineers know.

The only other draw-back is that the grass catcher is a little on the small side, so it fills up too quickly (but that could have been because my grass was a bit too long when I tried it).

If they solve the noise problem, I would give it another try.
