4 out of 5 stars Great machine, but read all reviews - it's not for everyone!   July 14, 2008

Perfect for a small lot, that requires only one charge. And perfect if you are ok with mulching rather than bagging your grass. No quality issue to date.

We purchased the Remington battery mower 30 days ago. Cannot say enough good things about the ease of operation and the efficiency of mowing. Our property is 100 x 120 and there is more than sufficient charge on the battery to complete the job with ease. We are very satisfied with the mowing results, the quietness of the engine, and the freedom from using gas and oil. Both my husband and I use the mower with no difficulty in pushing. The weight does not appear to be an issue and the physical ability required is equivalent to that of our toro self propelled (which we have since disposed of).

4 out of 5 stars Made the switch to electric   July 29, 2008

Our electric company offered a 50% rebate on a purchase of an electric mower, so being in need of a new mower (owned a gas mower) I purchased the Remington.

I chose this mower since it had the option of running on battery or corded and since this was my first electric mower, I wanted the option. I think anyone going from a gas mower to an electric mower will find the cord to be a hassle and should look at buying just a battery operated mower if you want to get rid of your gas mower. I never use the cord.

The mower takes no time to put together. I saw another review that made it out to be a task, but it took about ten minutes.

Like most reviewers said, you need to buy a cord to run or charge the mower. I expected I would have to buy a cord for a .4 acre lot, so this didn't surprise me.

It would be nice if there was a separate charge station so I wouldn't have to put the whole mower in my garage to charge it.

I don't think there was a cover for where the cord plugs into the mower either (may have threw it out if it did come with one) so the area gets covered with grass and has to be cleaned out beofre you can put the plug in. Just a couple of suggestions for manufacturer...

The manufacturer also states to plug the mower into a GFI but if I try to cut the grass while plugged into any of my GFIs, it trips. Charging the mower with the GFI outlet worked fine. I too have had times where the switch clicks off of the charge setting.

I purchased this in the Spring of 2008 and the grass was growing fast and was always a little damp. It would take a full charge to cut my back and a little less to cut my front. Now we are in summer and the grass is not as thick, nor as damp so I am able to cut the back and front on one charge. I would let the battery charge longer than the 10 hours specified, since that does not seem long enough.

The grass tends to get stuck in the hole going to the bag, so you have to keep flipping the mower over to clean it. My gas mower was the same way, but this mower is a lot lighter than my self propelled mower so I don't mind as much.

Bottom line, I like this better than my gas mower and that's enough for me. I would buy a battery only operated (w/an extra battery) one next time, rather than the combo.

2 out of 5 stars Poor quality control.   September 8, 2008

The machine arrived missing a second bolt and nut from the wheel height adjusting handle. I was unable to set the cutting height because the weight of the machine would just cause it to slide down to it's lowest level. I contacted the technical support people who shipped the missing parts to me.

The parts arrived in about a week. It was a bit of a struggle to install that missing bolt but I got it in.

Now that I can adjust it's cutting height the machine is performing as advertised (I really like the battery operation and haven't had to use a cord yet) but there is one other minor problem: it affects my DSL line when it is plugged-into an ac outlet in my garage charging the battery. I've installed a ferrite choking core on to the ac cord and this has helped somewhat.

1 out of 5 stars Built Cheap   September 9, 2008

I have had this mower for over three months and it has finally, ticked me off enough to write about this mower, It's poorly built, the grass catcher is mad out of the metal and is very cheap, the basket falls apart now after each dumping of what little clippings it does catch, the machine cloggs up easy . takes twice as long to mow my lawn verse using my old gas craftmen mower. it's a good thing I kept my old mower, because i would be mowerless. the cordless Remington clogs up and shuts off alot, this has happpen since i've own the mower when I called for a refund they told me I was already past my time,(by 15 day) and that I would have to take it to one of there dealers to take a look at it.But no refund just replacement parts.mower still Sucks.
