This weeder works well. One advantage is being able to weed from an upright position which saves you from hunching down
all day. Most of the time, the entire root system is removed.

This contraption is better than stooping and pulling by hand, and it is fun and easy to use. I just am finding it difficult to pull anything but medium to small dandelions in normal soil conditions. It doesn't work well in wet or damp dirt. I would say it pulls the dandelions out (root and all) 3 out of 5 times. I was fairly disappointed because I bought this due to the good reviews.

This is the best thing for weeds I've ever used. We have those thorny old thistles all over the place. They grow to 36: in diameter and have such nasty spines they cut right through gloves. The Weed Hound dispatches them with ease. I put the prongs right into the heart of the thistle, pull the whole thing out and pop it into the tip bin without ever having to touch the darn thing. Bought one for my brother and he loves his too. I've lost mine somewhere on these 5 acres, so I'm ordering a new one. If I find the old one, I'll give it to my gardener/helper who has also been spoiled and can't live without one!

I bought this for my wife who hates dandelions. It works 90% of the time at removing the entire tap root - some are just too big or too deep. The tool can get stuck if you aren't forceful with it - be prepared to use your fist/palm to eject the offending dandelion - only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 stars.

I couldn't believe how well this thing worked. Just plop it on top of a weed - especially dandelions - step on the ledge, and watch the claws sink in and clamp down on the root in a single swoosh. I've found that pulling directly up slowly helps me get the entire root out, which is particularly satisfying.
