3 out of 5 stars Bully OK, but not for everyone   April 11, 2006

Here are some things I wish I had known before buying:

The mowing height is adjusted separately at each of the four wheels. Fortunately my hands are not arthritic, because the adjustment is quite difficult, requiring lots of force to pull back the lever, and the force must be maintained while you move the lever to the appropriate notch. This is not an easy operation, and you will not want to change this adjustment very often!

The only provision for the clippings is side discharge: no mulching, or bagging. If you mow frequently and have a small lawn, that's not a problem, but you will probably have to do at least some raking with this mower.

The hub caps are constantly falling off. They need to be removable, since you might want to replace a wheel. Otherwise I would just epoxy them in place.

I was unable to find a manufacturers web site for Bully.

None of these complaints is sufficient to make me go through the inconvenience and expense of returning the mower, but I do regret buying it and would probably have been happier with the Neuton (not available through Amazon) I was also considering before buying the Bully. Still, the Bully is very light and easy to use, and the price is right.

1 out of 5 stars Pushing is not easier with this cordless mower   May 16, 2006

Yes, you dont have the hassle of the cord, but you have to go all over again the same place to get the same results as a corded mower. Results: you spend much more time and the results are more frustating than with the corded ones.
This is made worse by the little 16" blade. Anyway, if you are in a small patio or lawn, the cord should not be a problem.
Take in mind, as the batterie goes down, so the speed of the blade and consecuently the quality of the cutted grass.

5 out of 5 stars Best Buy - Lawn Mower Heaven   May 30, 2006

A 3/4 size quiet, light-weight economical cordless electric mower that works great on my 50'x100' lawn. The wheel adjustments, with a shot of WD-40, are a BREEZE (the same for any other new mower - so plan ahead!) :) I'm 50 and semi-arthritic, but no problem after a shot of oil to the wheels.

I've had a similar mower for two years and have rediscovered the joys of mowing. Quiet enough that I can get the job done at 8 am before heading to work on a Saturday, even with neighbors who hate noise. I'm so happy to be done with pull-cords, numb hands, ringing ears, gas, oil, and yearly maintenance!

After charging for 48 hours, I gave my new mower a real test. I work 50 hrs/wk and after three weeks of rain, the lawn had gone to 6-12 inch grass (yes, I measured it to be precise here) with thick patches in front, and nearly all thick growth in back. It does great ... keep in mind you are no longer pushing around a heavy mower so its easy to get used to zipping over the grass ... just slow back down a bit going over the thick spots. Set the front wheels on highest setting, and back wheels on lowest, to get best cutting/speed performance.

The full charge did my front/side overgrown lawn in about 35 mins on 1st charge, and after recharging a few hours (and waiting through a thunderstorm) it finished up the back yard jungle in 25 minutes - wet and thick growth sure didn't slow this one down! Fantastic, fast, half-hour sprints.

After ordering I found to my surprise the company is local and was able to pick up my mower on-site. Excellent customer service, communication, flexibility and access. No, I have no affiliation, just very grateful to find this excellent mower available! Its a gem for busy people with smaller lawns.

5 out of 5 stars Give it some time...   July 13, 2006

Even though I did read the info saying it would take the battery some time to come to a full charge I was initially diappointed with the power of this little mower. I have a good sized yard and planned on mowing half at a time. It still seemed lower than my expectation of the power described but perhaps that is because I had a Black & Decker cordless electric for 6 years. The cost to have it repaired was more than the Bully so I decided to give it a try. I cannot believe this is the same Bully mower I was using a month ago! It will do my whole yard if I do not allow the grass to get too high. I do not know why it took so long for the battery to fully charge but it is now the mower I had hoped for, so lightweight compared to the B&D and convenient to use. Just give it some time before you make a final judgment.

4 out of 5 stars Good on PA terraced yard   May 16, 2006

Our lot has 4 different terrace levels that grow grass. My gas mower is just too heavy to get from one space to another so I have used a weed eater for where I couldnt get the old mower. I ordered this bully mower due to its light weight. I works good as my gas mower ever worked and goes wherever I want it to. The lower part of the handle is a good lifting point. Seems well built and hasnt run out of power yet. Cutting height is hard to adjust but I did it once and dont think I ever have to adjust it again. I looked at the Black and Decker but it is heavy and costs $200 more. Good buy.
