Weber One-Touch Gold Charcoal Grill - Outstanding April 5, 2006 Olive Oyl (Jacksonville, FL) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
We had our other Weber 22.5 charcoal grill - for at least 10 years. Now, that we have the Weber 7751001, I can't believe we went so long without it. Cleanup is a breeze. Grill well worth the investment.
Weber Kettle Grill May 24, 2007 C. J. Schubert (Dublin, OH) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
It works well-just like we thought it would. It's all you've ever wanted in a charcoal grill. We added the Slide Aside to hold the lid and the tool holder.
Gold vs. silver - I chose Gold and am very happy I did. July 11, 2008 Kate Fitzpatrick (Pacific NW) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I agonized over whether or not to spend the extra money for the Weber Gold On-Touch Grill over the Silver version. But in the end, I ordered the Gold, and am very happy I did. Our summers are dry, and we have lots of vegetation around. With the ash-catcher on the Gold model, I feel comfortable using it, even when the wind is blowing pretty strong. (Which it does a lot around here!) I don't think I would have felt comfortable using the Silver in some of the wind / heat conditions we have around here. I also love the hinged grill. I barbecued some pork for several hours to make pulled pork (my first try, and it turned out GREAT!) and it was easy to add extra charcoal from time to time without losing a lot of heat. I'm sold on the Gold--would definitely cough up the extra bucks again.
Awesome grill April 12, 2007 XirA (United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Wonderful grill. We are very pleased with our purchase. My only suggestion would be to buy the Slide-Aside along with this grill. Since the lid to this grill is not hinged, the Slide-Aside allows you a place to put the lid while you're turning meat, adding food, etc. This is a large grill, more than sufficient for family grilling as well as entertaining.
Reliable, easy to use, consistent November 19, 2007 P. A. Vinger 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have used this grill for one season with great results. The lower and upper vents are easy to adjust and do their job well. The lower vent adjustment spins pusher blades that send ash through the vents to the holder below, meaning you only have to handle the ash when the holder fills up. I definitely recommend the Gold model over the Silver, as small bits of hot coal fall through the vent during cooking. I would not want bare coals on the exposed, shallow tray in the Silver. In the Gold, they stay safely contained in the bin - and seem to continue contributing some heat, even though they're no longer in the cooking chamber. I have not yet had reason to miss an adjustable grill - it's easy enough to pile the coals such that there are hotter and less hot regions on the grill. When done cooking, it's easy to let the coals carbonize any residue on the grill, give the grill a scrub, and close the vents. The coals then go out, and can be reused. I highly recommend a Weber chimney starter and lump charcoal. One sheet of newspaper partially soaked in olive oil starts the coals nicely (it takes about 35 min to heat up a full Chimney of charcoal. I also recommend the Weber accessories for hanging tools on the side of the grill. The lid can still be closed tightly with these accessories attached, though they can come off if jostled. Don't waste your money on the lid-holder attachment - the lid has a little hook on the inside that lets it hang on the side of the grill. Negatives: The plastic handles are of good quality, but can get uncomfortably warm, and will melt if they get very hot (ie: unshielded and directly over hot coals). The rack between the wheels is sturdy enough, and usable, but minimal - there's just enough room to hold the chimney starter - and it's a bit awkward (the legs tend to get in the way). There's no place to store charcoal - if you can swing the extra cash and have the deck space, give the Platinum model a look. Overall, great value and excellent performer.
