Great Classic Grill August 14, 2005 J. Lowry (Gainesville, FL) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I grew up with a Weber kettle grill, and was excited when my wife bought me this one for Christmas. I have used various gas grills, and they can't be beaten for the ease and speed of use, but I find that my grilling experience is more enjoyable with charcoal. I love setting up a nice pyramid of briquettes and letting them burn, allowing me time to get the food ready for cooking. Most importanly, the kettle design allows fast, all-over cooking. The handle does get hot, but its not that big a deal. I have 0 complaines about this item. I have the grill cover, and it is helpful to keep the grill clean. I know- it used to be my job at the beginning of summer to clean our old one. For the charcoal cooker, the buck stops here.

Weber again proves nobody can engineer a grill like they do. Pure simplicity and genius
Juicy steaks on the classic black June 13, 2006 Kurt Gerhardt 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We now own two, this one and the 18-1/2 inch. For parties they're essential and I can operate them side by side. We also ordered the chimney starter. Top of the line bbq's that need no reinventing. We are Weber believers.
I feel like I'm piling on. August 11, 2006 PGMS (NJ USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
There is just nothing like this grill. It is well-built and a pleasure to use. Cleaning the ashes out means shoving the coals through some fairly large holes into a large can attached underneath the grill. You can easily go a few times without emptying it. It won't hurt your grilling any. If you have the space, go for the larger 22 1/2 inch. It gives you far more room for doing things like indirect grilling (the way to go for chicken - put the chicken on one side of the grill and the coals on the other). Also, I strongly recommend buying the Chimney Starter. It is something like $12 and it means the coals start up in 10 minutes with one match, and no lighter fluid. You will love this well built icon of summer!
what a rib roast September 28, 2006 B. Bahary (New Jersey) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just used the indirect cooking method (see instructions that accompany this grill) to cook a rib roast. It was my second roast that I cooked. As easy as 1. Start the coals in the Weber Chimney starter 2. Add the coals in the grill separating them to the sides (indirect cooking) 3. Put the roast on the grill 4. Put the lid on and come back in 2 hours 5. Check with meat thermometer - perfect For the second time, the roast came out tender throughout. Not a tough part to be found. Not only that, no oven to clean out afterwards. How could you beat that?
