Great Value and Functionality! October 29, 2007 L. C. Hauck (Hays, KS) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found this item at a substantial discount at H******** A****** (a specialist in closeouts), and am delighted with it in all respects. I made a cruciform mast out of 3/4" PVC and mounted the anemometer to the top upright, and rain gauge on one of the arms with "U" bolts fashioned out of threaded rod. All the wires are threaded down through the upright and out the bottom and back under the eaves of my garage, at the roof peak of which the mast is fastened. It helps to have a telephone wire RJ-11 plug kit and pliers to shorten the cable lengths appropriately. Everything worked great out of the box! The instructions are deficient in that they lack illustrations showing how all this goes together, and one has to read them closely to discover that the rain gauge must be partially disassembled for mounting!
The Manual is not very helpful... All works but the wind barameter January 10, 2007 Robin Gentry (Granite Falls WA) 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
My husband was so excited, when he got this station and could not wait to get it set up. He is a phone guy so he wired it all up under the house and spent many hours setting it up just right, only to have issues with the wind barameter. We have tried to trouble shoot with the online and handwritten manuals. Unfortunetly there is no one to contact nor is there an option to return this product once you have it out of the box.. sooooo needless to say the excitement is gone..
Don't Buy January 25, 2007 Richard R. Watson (Gold Beach, OR. United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I owned a Davis instrument for 11 years and it finally started giving out so I bought two of these Lacrosse units, one for my Dad and one for me, thinking for the price it would be a nice replacement but both lasted until the first storm in Oregon and quit..I would never buy this again!! I paid more for a new Davis weather pro and so far am very happy with it.
low quality, no support, not recommended June 2, 2008 Bennet (Mountlake Terrace, WA USA) I've had this unit for about 1.5 years. The computer I/F worked for the first month and then quit. The wireless I/F works ok ( I'm running it about 75' ) but the update rate is too slow to support recording any wind gusts. Rain gauge doesn't record properly. Support never returned calls or e-mails so I'm stuck with a broken unit. Not recommended.
Pretty Good June 7, 2008 Teddy Bear I bought this unit over a month ago. It works fine. It's a pretty good job getting a weather pole and a good location. However, after I got that done the rest was pretty easy. I do have trouble with the instruction being clear on some things. I have trouble clearing the rain gage. It doesn't work like the instructions say. I usually have to reset the whole unite to clear the rain recordings, probably not doing something correct. The wind speed is 2 minutes behind but I knew that up front. All in all I"m satisfied with it and recommend the product, for the price you can't beat it.
