after all these years, Still doin a fine Job November 3, 2006 Ray D. Garner 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is my Third (3rd). B&D SpaceSaver Coffee Maker. First one was over 20years ago. Have had this one for a Month now. After reading all the postings. Was a bit nervous about the purchase. But decided to give B&D a try anyway. First, two problems. 1. no hardware (screws & Nuts) for mounting. 2nd. Nowhere in the Manual, does it state that the Unit has an auto shut off. Went to local hardware. Picked up the appropriate screws. Left the Machine turned on, and timed it. It does shut off, after 2 hours. I am mechanically inclined. So Unit was mounted in a LEVEL position, I did not overstress any of the Screws. So plastic is not warped, causing basket to pop out. Still makes a grreat Cup a Joe. Only dissapointment. Is that the Black Model was not available, where I purchased. thanks B&D.
Defective need a replacement July 30, 2006 Thomas E. Oldakowski (Huntington, NY) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I tried to contact NowOnSale to replace this defevtive product on 7/17, but my email was rejected by their site, I have been on vacation until yesterday and this is the first opportunity that I had to write to you. Imediately after brewing a pot, the unit shuts down completely as though a circuit breaker was opened. the display disappears completely. I have checked the circuit and all is well. I plugged the unit into a surge protector with the same result. I replaced the surge protector with no luck. The only way to energize the unitis to unplug or turn off the surge protector for about a minute, and then turn it back on. The clock then needs to be reset, anfd then the unit can be energized to turn on the hot plate to keep the coffee warm. I spoke with Black and Decker on 7/17, and they advised me to contact you for a replacement. Please send the same unit in Black, and thr RA to return the defective one. Thanks
Black & Decker under the counter coffee maker January 27, 2007 ANDREA JACKSON 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
We love our under the counter coffee maker. We had a hard time finding a black one, however. We love having the counter space and not having to constantly move a convenional unit back and forth from under the cabinets to be able to fill the water reservoir. We also wish carafe replacements were easier to find.
OK appliance July 3, 2007 Troy Peterson (Roseville, CA USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I read several reviews of this product before I purchased it. I have always liked the spacemaker series and was concerned with the multiple problems expressed by other reviewers. I decided to take my chances and get another one anyway since the last one just wore out. For 3 weeks it worked flawlessly. No timer issues, no clock issues,no overflow, perfect pot of coffee everyday; even setting the timer. One Saturday, I turned it on and was nearby during brewing when it started to overflow. Further investigation after the cleanup revealed that the basket had slightly popped out of place, closing the drip lever. This, I believe is caused by the spring that is in the lever is too strong. Previous versions of the spacemaker were not spring activated. With the carafe pressing on the other part of the lever and streaching the spring on the basket it just popped out a little but just enough to close. I have had to rig a "clasp" to hold the basket in. Black and Decker is the only manufacturer of under mount coffee makers apparently, and should really not mess with a good product when they have it. Need to quit changing the functions. Despite this "small" issue, it really is a pretty fair appliance.
Coffee Maker-Model # ODC440B January 11, 2007 C. Woudhuizen (Deltona, FL) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This coffee maker works well, makes coffee quickly and is relatively small for an under-the-counter machine. The only negative comment I can make about it is that the carafe does not "lock" into place...there isn't a big lip or ridge to keep it securely sitting in the machine. So far, this hasn't been a big problem, but could be if we were really in a hurry... Otherwise, a decent coffee maker!
