5 out of 5 stars Great Product   January 18, 2003

I love products that exceed my expectations. The Avalanche roof rake makes taking show off my roof a pleasure. In fact two of my neighbors came over to see my new toy and they took it home and did their roofs in minutes. I like the fact that the handles can be taken apart for easy storage or I can take it to my cabin.
I recommend it to anyone. I'm 68 and it is so easy to use.
Great Product!

5 out of 5 stars no backache here   February 1, 2004

I love the avalanche rake, it is so easy to use and the snow slides right off the roof. No more shoveling for hours. I live in NY where the winters are rough, last week we got over 5 feet of new snow in one week. The avalanche rake really made my life easier. Now I have more time for enjoying the snow. Thanks for a wonderful product.

I am a 67 year old male who lives in the snow country of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our snow fall has exceeded 195 inches to date and I have had to remove snow from the roofs of our home and garage twice. The Avalanche make this easy. However, I have a problem. I need to replace the plastic slide sheets on each of my avalanches (I own two) as they are badly torn because of excessive use. My avalanches are the true originals. The plastic slide sheets are 21 3/4 inches wide and I have had no success in finding replacements. I would appreciate any assistance I can get in locating slide sheets with this dimension. Other than this problem, the Avalanche is a wonderful snow removal tool.

5 out of 5 stars Better Than Expected   December 15, 2003

If you have ever cleaned a roof off with a snow rake, then you need to try one of these Avalanche systems. I've had one for two years and it's the best snow removing investment I've ever made. Works far better than I could have imagined. My neighbor saw it the first time I used it and told me that it looked too easy to clean a roof with it. He had just purchased a traditional snow rake!!! Get one of these, you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars It just keeps going and going   January 28, 2008

I live in the snowbelt of Northern Michigan where we average over 180" of snow each winter. My first Avalanche was purchased over 15 years ago when the handles were wood (and heavy). A couple years ago I replaced it with the newer model (purchased here at Amazon). A great product made even better by the lighter weight handle. If you've torn the plastic slide, bring it indoors, let it dry out, and when it's warmed up, get out the duct tape and repair any tears or holes. A good marine sail repair tape also works. My slide has a patchwork of duct tape, but the snow flies easily over the tape. Spraying a bit of oil on the ends makes it easier to connect the rods when the temps are in the teens or lower.
