Worth every penny February 18, 2008 J. Hencik I bought my Avalanche about 6 years ago. Whoever invented this product should have a holiday named after them. I used a roof rake before this and pushing the Avalanche up the roof is far easier than trying to pull snow off the roof. Not to mention the damage to your shingles from a roof rake. The wheels keep the cutter bar about 1/2" above the roof so only the wheels touch your shingles. Just set it on the edge of the roof and push up and watch the chunks of snow hit the ground. A simple system but extremely effective.
Slick Design February 29, 2008 The Giz (Appleton, WI USA) With record snow in this area I needed to get the white stuff off my roof. This product is great! It is MUCH easier to use that a snow rake. I used a snow rake the week befor this arrived and my arms were killing me. This product was much easier on my arms. What a great design! The only downfall is the pastic chute can tear on the ice but tape fixed it quickly. And replacement chutes can be ordered.
Avalance 300 March 2, 2008 Mavoureen (Spokane, WA) The Avalanche 300 really worked. It was wonderful in that you didn't have to climb a ladder to clear the roof. Adding the poles to extend the length was very easy to do. Even just one person can operate this. My roof was never damaged by the Avalanche. Our snow was heavy and still the Avalanche removed it. I think my neighbors enjoyed watching me use this amazing and wonderful tool!!! Many thanks to the manufacturer of Avalanche!!!
Not for mountain snows! March 22, 2008 Edward A. Kallio The Avalanch worked great for fresh snowfalls of a foot or so, but at my mountain cabin (Colorado), it was overwhelmed by the two and three foot snowfalls that are common. I was wishing for aluminum rather than fibre glass poles. The fibre glass is just too flexible and heavy creating a cumbersome and unwieldy tool. It didn't take long to crack one of the poles. If the manufacture used lighter, sturdier poles, I would give this product a rousing recommendation. As it stands, the Avalanch did not meet my needs.
Michigan Winters March 31, 2008 Thomas Drury (Mi USA) I used one of these products years ago and they worked good then. Since that time they have made several great improvements that have only made the product better. Living in Central Michigan the Avalanche gets quite a workout and is well worth the money.
