We bought two of these chairs. The shipping cartons were made from thin cardboard, the cartons were not well constructed, and the chairs within the cartons were not well wrapped or protected. Both chairs suffered minor surface scratches during shipment. The damage was not severe enough that we wanted to return the chairs, but it is noticeable. The chairs are well made and comfortable to use.

the box was crushed when i got the chair. the arms looked worn. the mechanism was difficult to use, and only one of the locks worked. then when locked, it would sometimes let go with a loud scary buzz. i think it is dangerous. i hope the return is easy. we'll see.

I ordered mine the night before last and had it sent to DC via Free Shipping, and I just got it - very fast!
As far as the packaging is concerned, it was just put in a plastic bag and then put in the box. It's clearly a very durable chair so it isn't much of a concern, although it was a little dirty from the box. Note that it is not a light chair - it is made for the patio. That's exactly what I'm looking for so I'm happy.
It is also VERY comfortable. You can sit upright or lean back to recline (requiring some energy to lean), and it has a locking mechanism which you can set at any point.
My only thoughts for improvement is that it really should come with some directions for setting up. I say that because it isn't clear how exactly it is done. I quickly learned, but I sat in it before the base legs were spread completely apart and I could have hurt myself (I almost did). So if anyone buys note that to set it up you must ensure that the front and back bottom legs must be pushed entirely apart, and at that point the chair will be in the upright position. This might not make sense now but it will once you do it. After figuring it out I realized it's easy, but some directions would be useful just so no one hurts themselves.
All in all a great purchase and definitely worth the price.

I ordered two of these chairs in June and got them ten days weeks later - which is quicker than some other items I've ordered from Amazon. I love to sit in this chair, and have even napped in it with no pain in my back,legs,or arms! This chair was made for people with arthritis!

This chair is so ridiculously comfortable that I'm not sure what to do with it. I love it - as soon as I took it out of the box I set it up and fell sound asleep in it for over an hour! The problem is that it's MUCH larger than one might think based on the dimensions listed here. I though my balcony was a pretty decent size, but one of these chairs pretty much takes over the entire thing. I bought two of them, but there's no way two chairs would fit out there. I'm terribly disappointed and will probably have to return them.
If I had more space I would be raving about how fantastic this chair is, but as is, I wish that the dimensions had been stated more accurately.
