Weak motor and batteries not covered by warranty May 2, 2008 H. Young (Wilmington, DE United States) 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
I wouldn't buy this. The motor is weak AND the battery will not charge after two uses. Called customer support and they told me that batteries are NOT COVERED under the "warranty". Save your money and your blood pressure and go elsewhere.
Innovative Yes - but dropped the ball on quality June 7, 2008 M. Giordano (IL USA) 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
There are so many innovations that went into this product and it had the potential to be a great product. I'll start with the pros - its very light and the plastic parts are solid. The telescoping shaft is nice. I'm tall and most trimmers hurt my back from all the bending. This one adjusted to my height and was nice to operate. Unfortunately, the manufacturer decided to skimp on some of the most important features. First, 18V is not powerful enough, if you are looking for cordless electric trimmer purchase a 24V model. The edger feature is a joke. The cheap little plastic wheels do not work properly and the handle is in an awkward position to use this as an edger. The small trimmer line barely cuts through my thin Kentucky blue grass, I don't think it would cut through thick grass or weeds at all. I used this to replace my American Gardener Yardstick that I've had almost 4 years. It worked very nice but the battery finally gave in. It took me about half as much time to trim and edge my yard with the American Gardener probably because it is 24V...and it is less expensive. I've only used this trimmer one time and the battery died before I could finish trimming my very small yard. I'm terribly disappointed and am trying to see if I can return it. Trust me on this, cordless trimmers are very nice but do not get anything smaller than 24V.
Not what I expected July 18, 2007 Eric A. Boyer (Columbia, SC) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I purchased one thinking the cordless feature would be a better deal than dealing with a cord. Boy was I wrong. The Worx have very little power to cut grass or weeds in my yard. I was upset that it went through the two or three cord replacements before I could finish a portion of my yard. I was not pleased with its performance overall. I will stick to my electric weedeater and edger.

It's nice not to have to use a cord but has very little power even thou the TV add goes on and on about how powerful it is. They compare it to gas weed eaters, it's not even in the same ball park. People that stated in their reviews that is great must never have had another trimmer. I was going to get rid of my old cord machine but will keep it for most of my yard work and use this thing just for the lite weight jobs that are out of the cord range. Normal use of the battery is less than 10 min. and you have to run the battery down to were it stops or it will form a memory. I have battery drills that the batteries do not form a memory, so it shows that Worx's in not up to today's newest tech. I would not by this if I could have tried it out first. This is an addition to what I wrote last fall, over the weekend I put one of my batteries in the charger a few hours later I came home and found my shop full of smoke. The battery had got so hot that it was distorted and the charger was burned out. I called the worx's line and was told that the battery and charger only was covered by warranty for 30 days and that it would cost over $50.00 for a new charger and over $40.00 for a new battery plus shipping and handling, so it would cost more than $100.00 to replace them. After this I wish that there was something less than 1 star. I would not recommend this to any one, thous like me that bought this please be careful when charging the battery, it can be dangerous.
great cordless trimmer/edger May 16, 2007 gardencook (seattle, wa usa) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I love this trimmer! I was a little unsure after seeing the infomercial- should I fall for the hype. I took a chance and bought through Amazon- better price. I am still on my first charge after three uses. I have a small yard, 8000 sqft. This trimmer does the job very well. The edger is fantastic too. The unit is very light and you don't get that vibration feeling after use. The only problems I had was the line ran out after one use- but Amazon fixed this issue. And the trimmer does not come with the braided double helix line that's is advertised on the infomercial. I have a neighbor that never mows- so his lawn is a mess at four feet tall. I tested this trimmer on a small section and it wacked the grass down very well, dandelion stems and all, making it easy to mow- but he didn 't... This trimmer is a good environmental choice. Very light weight- even with a hurt back, I was able to trim and edge. I am very glad about this purchase and would highly recommend this item.
