good instant hummer food June 26, 2007 neuroReviewer (San Diego, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There might be some reasons not to use instant food for these animals because you don't have to heat the food and therefore it might get bad faster. If you do use instant food make sure to change it regularly so the animals won't get sick. I have a couple of regular Humming bird visitors all the time. I always used this particular product, but then my store did not carry it anymore. I tried different brands of hummer food. All of the ones I found were colored red. My humming birds stayed away. I found the red version of the gardensong product. They still stayed away. Then I found the clear humming bird food from gardensong that I used before at amazon and ordered it. It took less than a day and the little birds were back fighting about the food. This is clearly the best food available. At least the humming birds in san diego seem to think so...

Never Received due to Amazon error April 12, 2008 Thomas Melton (Huntington, WV USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I never received this due to amazon mis quote of the price. I did receive the 8 oz package which is fair. All in all do it yourself.. It is just as easy
Sugar and water is just fine July 23, 2006 William M. Taylor (Arizona) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product to my knowledge is completely untested. I suspect it because it says it requires no boiling--which sugestes that it may contain a preservative, yeast and/or bacterial inhibitor. This could not possibly be good for the hummers. Listen to the experts such as Sheri Wlliamson (Peterson's "Hummingbirds of North America.") Sugar and water is just fine, filtered water best but NOT distilled.
Cool December 30, 2007 Brian Barrell This is the 1st mixture that I have found that you do not need to boil. This is a definate plus.
