Useless in Brooklyn November 28, 2007 S. Gates (Brooklyn, NY) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Dynatrap Insect Eliminator proved useless against pesky Brooklyn "ankle-biter" mosquitoes. I left the unit on outside for 48 hours. Caught a few bugs but no mosquitoes. In addition the bulbs burned out after 3 days of use. Next year I'll try a propane unit. I sent the unit back for a full refund (thanks True-Value Hardware!).
South Florida Mosquito destroyer June 10, 2008 J. Rapps (Everglades, FL) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Wow! The Dynatrap works GREAT for us! We have a 5th wheel camper that we keep on our lot on Chokoloskee Island in the Everglades National Park. We keep the Dynatrap under the camper and leave it on 24/7. The first 5 days we trapped well over 500 mosquitos. Then we bought the Octenol attractant and placed one in the trap. Over the next week we trapped THOUSANDS! The trap was literally 3/4 full of mosquitos. Yes it does trap other insects such as moths, as do other mosquito traps, but the Octenol attractant really grabs the mosquitos attention! The 3rd week we nearly filled the trap again with mosquitos (I estimate 5,000?). We will never rid our camp of mosquitos since it is in the Everglades, but we sure are putting a big dent in the population in our immediate area! The neighbors on both sides just ordered Dynatraps after seeing our results. Great item for the price!
not bad for the price May 27, 2007 Paul Demarkey 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I saw this item in several magazines for about $119 t0 $140. It was easy to set up and it is a lot quieter then my old bug zapper. I have a stream that runs through my back yard. I get a lot bugs during the summer. I have had running for about two weeks now. The large container is about half full. I don't see myself emptying it out ever other day. It is very easy to clean. Over all the price is good and it is a well built unit. The unit is easy to care for and works well. It also consumes less electricity than a regular bug zapper.
Ridding my house of those pesky bugs. June 23, 2007 Aaron Woodyear 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was looking for an effective mosquito trap that was cost effective and didn't require too much maintenance. Having read reviews on cheaper units that used sound to chase mosquitoes, I realized that all of those were a waste of time. Unlike most of the previous reviewers I needed to use this indoors to kill these pests. I live in a tropical climate close to a river thus mosquitoes are always around. Within 48 hours of turning this thing on it captured numerous mosquitoes, flies and fruit flies. I didn't realize we had so many of these insects flying around the living room. The fan is very quiet and the bugs get tired quickly and dry out after a few days. It is fun passing by and inspecting to see how many we've caught for the day. I notice that it is more effective catching mosquitoes at night. One thing to note about this unit is that it is pretty large, not larger than a standard bug zapper like the flowtron models but I was under the impression that it was a bit smaller after looking at the website. I am fully satisfied with this product and look forward to years of bug free living.
Caught lots of moths, few mosquitos, bulbs died after 2 weeks July 30, 2007 Jaeger (NH, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Simply a case of sounds to good to be true (eliminating mosquitos without spending $400+ for a LP gas unit). You'll notice the product states it is an "insect eliminator" not a mosquito eliminator. I got the device, plugged it in and left it running all night. The next morning I had a hard time picking out 1 dead mosquito from the pile of moths and beetles in the trap. After about 2 weeks of nighttime use I noticed that the bulbs started pulsating for no reason then died the next day even though they are listed as working for 3000 hours. If you've got a serious moth issue then this is your solution. But if you're dealing with mosquitos then keep looking elsewhere
