So far I am very pleased!!! August 22, 2006 Ross' Mommy (Charlotte, NC) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Had this on my Amazon wish list, but then came across it for the same price at a Target store and bought it (sorry Amazon). And I really am pleased so far. My toddler has allergies and his allergist had recommended an air purifier for his room. We did lots of research in looking for the right one that was still affordable. I really like that this one has washable filters. Lots of $$$ savings there. Since getting this, my son has had fewer runny noses and no severe allergy symptons. We've even been able to drop two of his three allergy meds - - not sure yet though if this is due to the seasons, or perhaps we were possibly over-medicating him before, or if this thing really does work that kind of miracle. Either way, fewer snotty noses makes me happy. In regard to the concerns over noise, this one is fairly quiet. I keep it on low pretty much all the time and it is hardly noticeable. My son has no problem sleeping with it running in the same room. The oscillating feature is nice and it has a small nightlight on it that comes in handy. I would definitely recommend the Honeywell HFD 120.
Good price and quality product November 4, 2006 L. Robare (Fairfax, VA USA) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I'm using it for the baby's room. Thus far, it has performed very well. I especially like the fact that the filters don't need to be repurchased. Approximately a month or so of usage, I simply take the filters out and clean them. This product offers good quality for a very attractive price.
Good Machine August 14, 2007 Irishman65 (NYC, USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I've had this machine almost eight months, I do find that I have to clean the filter a couple of times a month rather than once a month but that may be because I live in the city. Even so, this is a lot cheaper than replacing filters every two weeks and it is extraordinarily easy to clean the filter for this Honeywell purifier. It does seem to have helped with my daughter's severe allergies, though not entirely alleviated her discomfort. However, given that my daughter's allergies can incapacitate her or send her to the doctor, this is still an amazing change. A person with regular allergies might have an even better result.
Strong, unpleasant chemical smell coming from this air purifier. December 13, 2007 Suzanne N (Seattle, WA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
When I initially plugged in the Honeywell HFD-120 Tower Air Purifier, I was so excited, because after only 30 minutes, my apartment smelled incredible fresh and clean. However, when I left the unit on medium over an entire weekend with the apartment sealed up against the cold weather, I came home to a place that smelled like paint thinner! Alarmed, I turned off the air purifier, opened the windows, and the smell was gone. Sure enough, it was coming from the air purifer. I was wondering if it was the ionizer? Really strange chemical smell. Also, the fan itself put out a lot of air, which would be great in the summer, but was too cold for this time of year. It will cool your room substantially. Sending the air purifier back to Amazon, and ordered the Honeywell 50250N 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier. After extensive research and reading all the reviews, with a special thanks to the reviewer "Wolf" for making sure to ordered the right model number. I should add here, for fairness to Honeywell, that I also own the Honeywell HHT-011 Tabletop Air Purifier, which I use in my bedroom -- I absolutely love it. Great white noise (rushing air sound)/pretty soft-green nightlight. This little tabletop purifier keeps the bedroom air really fresh, and my cat's dander, shedding hair, and dust in check. I do not use the ionizer feature with this model. Nice to have the option. Really glad I got this. I would not suggest buying the tower air purifier. Good luck to anyone looking for this type of equipment. Will write another review of the Honeywell 50250N when I give it a good test drive.
Honeywell #120 air purifier November 6, 2006 Hal E. Matcovsky 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
It is a very good machine that works well in a bedroom. The tower takes up little room. It even can oscillate if you want that. It is very quiet and reasonably priced. The only drawback I find is that you have no option to shut off the ionization part of the machine. An excellent choice for my allergic conditions.
