1 out of 5 stars They don't make them like they used to   December 31, 2007

If you are looking for a cordless phone that is easy to navigate and setup, isn't "too" small so it's easy to cradle and dial one-handed, has good sound on both the receiver and answering machine, this is the phone for you.

If you are looking for a cordless phone that has any kind of range, look elsewhere. I thought I remember reading some reviews where they said the range got better the more you used it and recharged this phone..... I can't get it to pick up when I'm outside unless I'm on the same side of the building the base is on. And my old Radio Shack cheapo has this one beat hands down in that dept.

I have tried different makes, digital vs analog, different frequencies and have come to the conclusion that they just don't have the same range that they used to. I like that it comes with beltclips, though.... all cordless phones should IMO.

4 out of 5 stars Perfect clarity, but doesn't recognize AT&T CallNotes messages   July 6, 2007

I'm very happy with this phone. I love the address book feature. It lets you add numbers from your caller id list. You can even change the caller id name (ex. WIRELESS CALLER to DOE, JOHN) so the next time that person calls it will list the caller's name stored in the address book. Each handset has it's own address book, but you can easily "send" address book entries from one handset to another. Also, we use the phones upstairs and downstairs so the walkie talkie feature is very useful....my kids love it.

I use AT&T's CallNotes for may answering service so I don't use the built-in answer machine. The user's guide says the phone supports phone company message services and will indigate when you have messages, but it doesn't work for me. Oh well, nobody's perfect and I don't like to give perfect scores anyways.

3 out of 5 stars Great phone - but not during a power outage.   August 18, 2007

This phone is definitely the best cordless that I've ever used, and all its features are great, but if you need a phone during a power outage to report the outage, like we do living in a rural area, then you'll need a backup, because without power the base unit can't broadcast. The manual does say you'll need another phone for use during power outages. If I'd known this beforehand I wouldn't have purchased it.

3 out of 5 stars Decent, not great   September 14, 2007

I ordered these phones because they were a reasonable price compared to what I'd seen and they were the latest technology (dect 6.0) and a decent brand name. According to everything I'd read, these were supposed to have the clearest signals, no static, no interference, etc. So, I was a little disappointed when I plugged the phones in and got static SO BAD that I couldn't even hear the person on the other end. I thought it was because I was too close to an "electrical appliance" which it says can be a problem, so I moved the base unit as far away from all electrical appliances as possible which, really, was just the microwave but I still got major static. I'm a little annoyed at that given that 1st floor phone jacks are, after all, almost always in the kitchen and if 5 feet away from a microwave isn't far enough to reduce static then that makes it a pretty worthless product in my eyes.

Anyway, I was going to return them but decided instead to move the base unit upstairs to see if that made a difference. It did. Now the static is ALMOST gone and the phones are usable. I'd return them but didn't really feel like dealing with shipping them back and what not. I just really needed phones.

So, all in all, they're okay and their features are pretty cool but I'm not super happy with the actual performance. Oh, and one really annoying issue with the features...in the answering machine menu on the phone itself, you only have the option to "erase all" when it comes to deleting messages. You can't just delete one at a time. The only way to do that is from the base unit (which is now inconveniently located upstairs) and delete the messages as they play. I'd really like to be able to do that from the handset since that's my primary way of message playback.

2 out of 5 stars phone review   September 15, 2007

the phone is great, logical user interface, sounds clear--- all of this is very good.

the bad is the answering machine does not 'hear' or recognize cell phone DTMF (the number button sounds). This means that you cannot access your messages remotely from your cell phone. You can access them from a land line, but guess what? When I travel, I would call into the house via my cell phone!!

so I am back to using teh sevice provider voicemail with the monthly fee.

not happy, buy another product, not this one.
