I don't know what's wrong with the other customer reviewers! February 8, 2003 35 out of 37 found this review helpful
I recently read all of the customer reviews on this product and found myself laughing. Doesn't anyone know how to brew a cup of coffee? This product is excellent and I haven't had one single problem with my Brew 'n Go.I've heard that it overflows; that they can't pour the water into the unit; that the coffee tastes like rubber; that the maker turns on magically--or won't turn on at all; that coffee grounds get everywhere, etc. I think the problem must be with the users themselves. The first time I used this, I read the instructions beforehand, plugged it in, put my 2 tablespoons of coffee into the filter-- which is great I might add--filled my cup up with water, poured it in, added sugar and creamer to my cup, put the lid on, put it under the brewer, hit the switch, then had a steaming cup of wonderful coffee in seconds. I got to throw out my electronic mug warmer, too, since the coffee stays hotter longer. This product is great for people on the go, for people who only drink a cup of coffee a day, and for people who don't like to spend an eternity cleaning up!
Doesn't quite deliver. September 24, 2001 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
I love the IDEA of this product as I'm the only one in the house that drinks coffee and only usually have one cup at a time. The unit is small and the mug attractive. However, I've used this three times now, and ALL three times, the grounds from the coffee spill over into the rest of the unit from the filter. I'm using the recommended amount and yet the filter seems to be too small or not working properly. It also doesn't work as fast as I would think for a product called "Brew N Go". It seems like it is done, but then if you take the travel mug away, it keeps dripping ... all over your counter.. for a few minutes. The hassle of cleaning up grounds from everywhere is starting to outweight the benefit of having fresh coffee at home.
Not user friendly October 21, 2002 M. Dao (San Francisco, CA.) 23 out of 27 found this review helpful
Black and Decker should be ashamed of themselves for this coffee maker. It's a great idea, in fact it's the only one cup maker I've ever been able to find. The problem is that it is so poorly designed. If you're not really careful when you put the filter mechanism into the slot, the spout where the water comes out will not be seated properly and you will end up with coffee all over your kitchen counter. The inluded travel mug lasted about 4 months of normal daily use and then the bottom cracked and fell out. I'm being totally serious. What a mess.
How to use this product January 2, 2002 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
Wanted to note that this coffee maker will put grounds in your coffee if you use the amount of water and grounds that the package instructions tell you to. The package instructions say to use about 2.5 tablespoons of grounds and almost a full mug of water. When I did that I got grounds in my coffee. When I use about 2/3 or 3/4 a mug of water and 1 scoop (about 1 tablespoon) of grounds, I got a great tasting cup of coffee with no grounds. NOTE: I use fine ground coffee though - which means I get a stronger taste with less grounds. This is the perfect little coffee maker to sit on my desk at work. The mug does a great job of keeping the coffee warm long after it is brewed.
Fast Single Coffee Maker August 14, 2002 David Lindamood (Cadillac, Michigan United States) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
This is a great fast single coffee maker. Perfect for that one person 'large' cup. The travel cup actually does fit into my vans cup holder. The coffee is hot right after it is brewed, but it does not have a heating system, so will start to cool immediately, which is not a problem. Just start the coffee maker a few minutes before you need it and go.In this case, more is not better. Do not fill the coffee maker to the top with water, leave a little space, about 1/2 inch. This will solve the overflow problem. It is better to sacrifice that couple ounces of potential coffee than to clean up the overflow mess. I really like the permanent filter. After using the paper filters for so long, and always running out of them, the permanent filter is great to work with and cleaning is a faucet away. Overall, a great unit for that single coffee user.
