Doesn't work as well as Frontline July 8, 2006 Kimiko 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're cat is an indoor cat, yes this product will work well for you. But if your cats go outside like mine, FORGET IT! Yes Advantage kills fleas that are on your pet immediately. But it does not keep them flea free for 30 days, like they advertise. I've tried Advantage on my cats a few times. The fleas that were on my cats did die within 12 hours. But within ONE WEEK they were biting and scratching again like before. I'm picking fleas off of them after only a week and a half. If the product wasn't so expensive, it might be worth the money. But don't waste your money, because it only works well for a few days. Frontline works a lot better.
Doesn't work. Stay away from this snake oil. February 22, 2007 Paul (USA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Advantage for cats by Bayer Health Care is snake oil. I bought a tube for my kitten by advice from a local vet and applied this stuff carefully according to instructions. 3 days have passed and my kitty still keeps on scratching itself and I keep catching fleas on it. In other words, the product does not work as advertised. Don't waste your money on this snake oil.
flea control April 11, 2007 Never enough books There has to be something better out there, I just haven't found it. We care for a small group of feral cats, and the only one of the kittens that adopted us and stays near the house, turned out to react severely to flea bites. The first two applications of Advantage were bought from the Vet and applied at 1 month intervals. By the time I ordered and applied the third tube of Advantage, the cats hair had grown back and there was only a small area not completely filled in. Within 1 1/2 weeks, she was again ripping out her hair and tearing at her skin. I might add that during the time of treatment, she has also been wearing an organic flea collar, changed at one month intervals. Reading the cautions on this product, I am wondering if the Advantage is more of an irritant than the flea.
treats the animal May 4, 2007 A. Fabbri (seattle, wa USA) Controlling fleas is hard, as they are extremely robust little organisms. Advantage works as well an anything else to control the fleas on our cats. In the warmer months, we find them scratching again about a month after we apply this. When we only had one cat, an application would last longer. This is probably because there are now more fleas living other places in our house; the carpets, their beds, furniture, etc.. Treating the animal is only part of the flea solution. You must vaccuum religously and keep their beds clean. Also try Program if you are having a real hard time controlling fleas. Advantage works great, but no pesticide will be strong enough to work alone (without killing you or your cat first). Fleas are tough buggers and you must clean your house as well.
Great product at a great price July 13, 2007 K. Morgan (North Carolina) Buying this product through amazon.com saved me a third of the price I would have had to pay for this product locally. Great bargin!
