3 out of 5 stars System: 5-Stars -- Cartridges: 3-Stars   August 11, 2007

For the money, these cartridges should be 100% plastic lined. The current design has a plastic lined base, but urine can still creep up the sides and "wet" the cardboard.

Make no mistake, the system is the best I've used; but Scoop Free needs to update these refills to prevent urine saturation.

My cats:

1) 18lb Russian Blue, 13 years old
2) 10lb Calico, 12 years old

Each has their own Scoop Free litter box. We get about 3 weeks of use out of each refill cartridges.

3 out of 5 stars The litter trail...   August 29, 2007

The worst part is the large cyrstal litter pieces that I find all of the house - by stepping on them. Ouch!

Overall the unit works great - except the cost to have one is about $35 a month for 2 cats - I get about 10-12 days and then the litter is REALLY wet & smelly.I WISH THE BOXES WERE CHEAPER IN COST: the are certainly cheap to make.

I've thought to complain to the manufacturer of the boxes: I've had the corners of the "poop chamber" (wich are taped into place) come un-taped and keep the unit from working correctly. BTW: the poop chamber cuold be a bit LARGER, too.

I (my cat actually) had been a user of littermaid automatic cat boxes for years. We recently switched to the Scoop Free automatic cat box and am thrilled!! It is so much cleaner than before and so easy to switch to a new cartridge on a monthly basis. My cat loves it also. Amazon shipped the refill cartridges very quickly.

Very easy to install and change. The crystals need to be stirred every three or four days. Other than that there is nothing you need to do.

We have 3 cats. We change out the litter every 7 to 10 days. Completely worth it.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
