Good product September 5, 2007 V. Contreras (San Antonio, TX) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
We haven't used the product yet for sterilizing any items but we ran the initial cycle and don't have any complaints. It's very fast and doesn't require having to run the dishwasher just to sterilize a few bottles. Also, having to use a microwavable sterilizer really made me uncomfortable because of the uncertainty of cancer-causing agents in microwaved plastic. The price on Amazon is about $30 cheaper than at Babies R Us or Target so if you're considering it, purchase it through Amazon. You won't be let down. For the skeptics, I'm sure there are other less expensive products that do the same thing but my husband and I are first-time parents and haven't realized the impracticality of many baby items out there.
A boon for new parents!!! January 9, 2007 A. Patel (Atlanta, GA USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
We bought this product out of frustration over sterilizing bottles for our 2nd son. Now we wish we had this when our 1st was using bottles. It is a really great product. There is not much to do with it. All you do is stack the bottles (in neat trays that come with it) and turn it on. One thing i would recommend, use distilled water. I read this in another review on Amazon.com, and i think it is a great idea to keep the coil clean. There is not way to clean the heating element, so using distilled water is the only option.
NO REGRETS! Worth it!! August 8, 2007 Twin Mom (San Francisco, CA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was advised by several moms (including my own mother when she found out I spent $90 on a sterilizer!) not to buy a sterilizer, that bottles only truly need to be sterilized before the first time they are used so it's just an unnecessary hassle and expense. This is true in the U.S. (not all countries have a monitored water supply) according to our doctor, provided you have a perfectly healthy child. I was also worried about my twins getting allergies if they aren't exposed to any germs if we're constantly sterilizing everything. I bought it anyways before my twins were born and I do NOT regret buying this item!! My son has very severe acid reflux and a sensitive tummy and his doctor recommended sterilizing the bottles between every use. This has become a life saver!! We use it several times a day, every day, so we've definitely gotten our money out of it!! With twins that were fed expressed breast milk AND formula in two different bottles each feeding (X 2 babies = 4 bottles PER FEEDING), we were going through TONS of bottles every day! We rarely use the caps on our bottles, so instead of putting caps on the top rack, we put 6 more 4oz bottles, for a total of 12 bottles each time. WOW, no other sterilizer will hold that many! My time is extremely valuable with twin infants, so I really appreciate the fact that it takes 2 minutes to load. Very simple to use! I also loved the fact that my Medella breast pump parts fit well on the top shelf. We put toys, pacifiers, sippy cups, baby spoons, medicine dispensers, etc. in this thing! We've been using it for 7 months now and it's still working great for us. I do not use distilled water like many have mentioned, just filtered water and have never had any problems, but I guess it would depend on your water supply where you're at. This is a much safer alternative to cleaning products!
Important "Phased Out Item. DO NOT BUY! September 6, 2008 A. Shrivastava (Miami, FL USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Philips Avent iQ 24 is a great product but this model has Bisphenol A commonly abbreviated as BPA. It has been proven medically that this has acute toxicity. It leads to physiological effects on the body. You do not want it for your child. It has already been banned in various countries. Philips has replaced this product with BPA free model (manufactured in England). You need to look for BPA Free Philips Avent iQ 24 and avoid this.......
Great product!! August 23, 2007 Mia's mommy (New Orleans, LA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you buy the bit about sterilizing everything that comes in contact with your newborn, this is a great product!!! Large capacity, easy to work, fast sterilization. I use it daily. Most of the other products I bought for the baby suck. This one is worth the money.
