 Feliway spray - Did not work for us January 9, 2007

Our vet recommended this product to try in localized areas where our cat sprays but warned us that it does not work for all cats. Unfortunately that is the case for our cat, it made no difference to the amount he sprayed in one location.

Purchased this product after reading other reviews about cat marking. I have six cats that have always been fine, but one recently became territorial and marked several areas. This product has not entirely stopped the problem, but it has decreased it substantially, and it has made the cats more peaceful for sure. A tip - I have taken great care to clean and treat each area with Nature's Miracle, let it dry thoroughly and then treated the spot with Feliway. This approach seems to be breaking the bad habit. It leaves no smell and the fine mist seems to be completely safe on furniture and carpets.

We used the spray in our cat carrier to transport our two cats. On previous trips the cats meowed the whole trip. They did not meow when we used the Feliway spray but just layed down and were quiet. We knew it would be a winner when we opened the box and the cats ran over and started smelling and rollling in the box.

This product seems to reduce spraying by our male and generally to increase peace and harmony between our feline family members and both one another and unfamiliar house guests--which previously caused one of our cats a great deal of stress. The effect of the spray is pretty immediate, but temporary--its very usefully when having a dinner party with people our cats do not know. The plug-ins take a few weeks to make a notable difference because it takes time (a) for the air to become saturated with the diffuser solution and (2) for the cats to adjust their behavior in response. But overall we feel the expense is worthwhile. Over the past few years these products have helped us to introduce 2 new cats into our household as well as helped our cats to adjust to moving from a large house in the country to a smaller apartment in the city, new neighbors and friends, etc.

I would give this product 5 stars if it came in a larger container with volume discount! Our boy cat Mo was spraying after any upheaval -- visitors, one of us gone on a business trip, whatever -- it was terrible to wake up and find what had been the target of his stream in the night. Since we got the Feliway there has been NO spraying, and he does seem calmer and more peaceful -- yet still ready to play! Thanks, Feliway!
