CittiKitty Kit June 1, 2008 dvukin (Ohio) You're paying for the idea, as the materials in the kit are pretty marginal. The toilet insert is flimsy, and the written material is skimpy. There are better resources on the internet which tell you how to toilet train your cat using readily available and reusable materials.
Great Idea, Flimsy Material, and Still Not Litter-Free June 5, 2008 K.S. (WA USA) I was so excited about this product, but my 6-year old, 12-15 pound cats weren't. Getting them to jump up from the litter box to the toilet seat to see and use their new "litter box" was a disaster. Litter was everywhere on the floor and the cats seemed uncomfortable about doing their business. Sparing the dirty details, I wouldn't recommend this for a one-bathroom household or for cats that are not that adaptable.
HARD TO USE AND YOU MAY EVEN HURT YOURSELF June 17, 2008 Xenia (San Jose, CA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Big problems with punching out the rings. Took me about 15 minutes and a pare of seazures to punch it out. And I cut myself in the sharp plastic edge. The perforation is not done all the way throught the plastic, so you really have to use something more then just a finger to punch it out. Maybe it worth it at the end but so fur I'm just mad and hurt. Really hard to clean, litter sticks to the plastic and it's just a mess. It's better to pay more for the better quality.
Little bit of a mess... July 24, 2008 Taresa L. Donnell So I started using the Citikitty yesterday. I closely monitored my 11 month old cat, Milo. It took about 8 hours for him first to use it. I praised him and gave him a treat. About 5 minutes later he used it again and this time he pooed. He was scratching constantly trying to get everything covered. This created quite the mess on my bathroom floor. After that incident, I fill the bowl with very little cat litter(Maybe a 1/4 of an inch). This has solved most of the problem. Now there's only a little bit of litter that goes on the floor. With each stage this should get better as there will be less litter.
Didn't work for us August 5, 2008 M. J. Westmoreland We have a young cat(18mos) that has flawlessly used the litterbox from a kitten. Following product instructions we were successful in the first two phases of training. When we removed the second ring, our cat began to look for other places to eliminate, with the result that we now have three separate places in our house with stains on wool carpet. The odor is finally fading(to us) but in spite of repeated enzyme & steam treatments & reversion to the traditional litterbox, our cat continues to regard these areas as places to 'go'. We have had to barricade these zones in the house, and that's a pretty awful way to live. If you choose to try this product, be sure to scoop within minutes of you cat's use, keep as much litter in the device as possible, and take the unit off the toilet AT LEAST every other day and clean and dry it. Molds and foul odors develop on the underside facing the commode water, and your cat will smell this before you do and refuse to use the CitiKitty. Good luck with it!
