1 out of 5 stars Flimsy - Go buy the competitive product!   October 7, 2007

First, this product is made of very flimsy plastic. I have an 8 yr old, 20+ pound cat. It held her ok until rings started to be removed - then it started to bow. Second, there is no going backwards once a ring is removed.

My cat was doing all of her duties in the seat w/out a problem and displayed no issues even with the first ring removed, then I took out the 2nd ring. She was very uncomfortable and stopped using it all together. Beware - there is no "going back" if you take out a ring and the cat is uncomfortable. Go buy the competitive product (litter kwitter is one) which has SEPARATE RINGS for each step. This way you can adjust as needed. CitiKitty's solution to the need to "go backwards" and replace a ring is to tape duct tape over the hole! Go buy the better made product - you and your cat will be much happier.

You really want to start kittens off on this at a young age otherwise they get freaked out and go the bathroom in other places

5 out of 5 stars CitiKitty Works!   December 20, 2007

I purchased the CitiKitty after comparing it against the more expensive LitterKwitter product. CitiKitty's process is more gradual and gives the cat more time to adjust than the other product which is sturdier and better if you're going to need a reuseable product.

My kitten is now 4.5 months old; I started him using the CitiKitty as soon as he turned 3 months old, the recommended soonest time to start toilet-training a cat. He took to it like a charm and didn't have one accident - he's a very smart Siamese. Now, right on schedule about 5 weeks later he is toilet-trained! Younger is probably better.

Tips include keeping a jar of soft treats to shake to make your cat come to the bathroom and give him one or two in the bathroom every morning and after work. Give one whenever he uses the toilet successfully with lots of hugs and praise. I love my toilet-trained kitty and highly recommend CitiKitty for the price and quality. It gets the job done!

2 out of 5 stars Design flaws and limitations I found annoying   January 1, 2008

First off, if you are going to attempt to train multiple cats then this product is not for you.

The major problem I had with CitiKiti is that it is flimsy - something cats don't usually like. None of my cats would step on the device once the first tiny hole had been cut from the middle.

This brings me to my second complaint. If you think your cat is ready to move on to the next step and find out you are wrong then there is no going back.

The training seat also did not fit my toilet properly, but I was able to fix that with duct tape.

I also found it difficult to puncture the plastic to create or enlarge a hole. It takes a great deal of effort to puncture the device and the edges of the hole are sharp.

After a large failure with CitiKiti, I tried a different product called Litter Kwitter. While Litter Kwitter costs about twice as much as CitiKiti, it is well worth it. The training pan is made so much better and you don't have to buy a new one if you make a mistake; you can just back up to where things were working and go from there.

5 out of 5 stars No more litter!   January 29, 2008

This works great- our cat is now completely toilet trained and we don't even use the citikitty any more! He just squats on the regular seat and then we flush. We save a lot on litter.

The key: go REALLY REALLY slowly, and don't progress until the cat is absolutely ready. I didn't even use their pre-cut rings, I used heavy duty scissors and cut out tiny bits (in a circle) every few weeks. It made the toilet training process longer but less stressful (because he couldn't tell when we had removed part of it).

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
