Works Great November 8, 2005 Sabes (Texas) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have six cats and the oldest isn't really happy with all the new additions. Using Feliway has been a big help. It has stopped him from spraying when he got mad at us for bringing in others. I have two units in my house, at one time I had three plug-ins and tried to only have one, but that didn't work. Wish it wasn't so costly, but it works. Don't buy in a local pet store, they charge almost double. Buy on-line.
Works for us! February 7, 2006 H. Peiffer 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
We recently bought a house that was previously inhabited by a cat who urinated all over the basement. Unfortunately for us, this brought out the worst in my normally litter trained cat. We found her urinating outside of the litter box on many occasions. After taking her to the vet and finding out that there was no medical reason for this, our vet recommended feliway. We have been using it for 3 months now and there are no problems, just a happy kitty!
The Last Resort..... and it Worked! March 1, 2006 D. Caraway (Florida) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
The problem: my roommate brought three young male cats (all neutered, but after puberty) into the home with my two 6.5 y/o twins (spayed young), which I'd had since they were 3.5 weeks old. At first they seemed to be adjusting just fine, but suddenly both my cats retreated to my bedroom and refused to come out. In the past, my cats had spent 5 years with another cat, seven months with another, a few more with another, about a month with 2 miniature pinschers and many weekends with my sister's 80 lb. Weimaraner. So they had been around a large variety of other animals. It was baffling at first, but in watching the behaviors of the male cats, they were attempting to go through the motions of mating. The youngest was just incessant with chasing my cats and finally, one developed a stress-related UTI and I had to give her an antibiotic for 37 days. And there was talk about putting my cats on Prozac... an idea I didn't much like. I tried several other herbal remedies that were suggested, but they were useless. Well, catnip helped a little, but wore off too fast. Feliway was suggested by a friend with cats. I had been reluctant to try it because of the price but I ended up getting a great deal. I bought one for the boys' area and one for the girls' room. I began to see subtle changes in all of the cats within the first 3 days. After a month, I am definitely purchasing the refills. One of my cats has started venturing out of my room on her own and the other enjoys coming out if I carry her to her "safe chair" by my computer and lock out everyone but her sister. A month ago, I couldn't get her out from under the bed. I had been quite skeptical and feared that I was wasting a lot of money, but it made a tremendous difference. The problem isn't 100% solved, but it is so much better, I can't imagine living without Feliway!
Diffuser works, but now I'll try the Feliway Spray July 24, 2005 Suca 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I found the diffuser in a store and thought it was quite expensive, but with two male cats (both neutered!) marking territory in my little house I was desperate to try anything. Its really hard to judge how well the product works, but I believe it helped calm down my more anxious cat and it seemed to me that spraying occurred much less. I only gave it four stars because spraying didn't stop altogether. My cats seem to mark the same places over and over, so I'm going to purchase the spray to use in those locations - fingers crossed!
So far so good, and my house smells much better July 20, 2006 scolvig (Korbel, CA USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Clem is a mild mannered (let's say wimpy) 3 yr. old neutered male cat, one of five of my rescued kitties. But it was he who was spraying, in the worst of places, mostly on my kitchen counters, stove top, appliances, etc. I had only caught him marking once, but I knew he was the guilty one. He is such a sweet loving boy otherwise, gets along fine with the others, but I was at my wit's end, having gone through gallons of Natures' Miracle and still finding urine. Nine days ago, I saw a Feliway plug-in on sale at the feed store. I'd heard about it on animal shows, so decided to give it a try. So far so good! I haven't found any urine outside of the litter box. As for Clem's behavior, he seems LESS wimpy, and more assertive. He even chased off a grey fox the other day! Maybe he was just really neurotic and insecure before, having been through several homes, and rescued from the pound at the last minute. My other cats are all fine also. One female used to pick on another very shy female, but I haven't noticed any of that either the past week. I'm definitely going to buy refills. Hope it keeps working so well! If only we humans had such an easy solution for our behavior problems!
