Say NO To Audit Defense Option!! July 9, 2007 M Anthony (Washington DC) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
The Turbo Tax software was really useful. HOWEVER they offer you "Audit Defense", a service that is supposed to represent you if you are ever Audited by the IRS. Well guess what, I was audited by the IRS. The accountant that they assigned to my case was in Pennsylvania (I live in DC, my case was being reviewed in DC). The guy NEVER called to ask what my situation was. After I initiated the call, he tried to tell me not to "fight the 2005 audit and maybe they will let the 2004 audit slide". I wasn't trying to "fight" anything, I wanted someone to Present My Case! After my date was up, I didnt hear from the guy, 3 weeks later I get a letter in the mail from the IRS saying I owe money because I didnt show XYZ information. DO NOT GET THE AUDIT DEFENSE! It is like going to court with a Public Defender, you are asking to lose...
Filing fees and Maryland State Taxes December 20, 2006 Lee Givens, Jr. (Maryland USA) 10 out of 16 found this review helpful
Think about the amount of effort...is it worth the extra $7.95? TurboTax charges $14.95, but you get your refund back quicker (next day from Maryland State Taxes and 6 days for federal last year). Get TurboTax and pay the $14.95. I don't work for these companies, but I hate spending extra time doing taxes. Tip for Maryland Users: Use TurboTax to do your taxes, then print it out and re-enter the info in Maryland's free tax filing service and save time and money. Most refunds are paid within 48 hours!
TurboTax Twists January 24, 2007 Brad Bunnin (Berkeley, CA USA) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I've been using TurboTax (or its predecessor programs) for at least a decade. Although I'm generally satisfied with it, I don't like the difficulty in moving from certain feature windows back to my return. And I don't like the need for more than the minimum number of mouse clicks to move from one interview item to the next.
Whats with all the Beta Testers? January 28, 2007 J. Vinopal 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Most of these reviews are from people who got the product for free. Very few of them have ever written another review. Sounds like Intuit is stacking the deck.
Not return but no hassle February 8, 2007 David A. Rosman (The middle of Middle-america) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This was an interesting years for me financially. I made more money and had more expences than in the past and decided to use both Turbo Tax and a friends who works for the Block people. HRB took three hours to complete the task and found that I owed over $150. Turbo Taxt said $40 to the IRS after 120 minutes. I went back to HRB and found that he missed two deductions and the program was right. OK I am strange and do not mind paying my fair share, but I also want to maintain control of my money. Turbo Tax allows for that and more.
