Too expensive, there are alternatives. February 26, 2007 Dan2345 (Los Angeles) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I used TurboTax online the last two years and was a satisfied customer. I wanted to return to TurboTax online this year, but realized that it would cost $60 ($30 federal + $30 state), then I looked at this product here. I almost bought it, but thank God to other reviewers which pointed out that it cost $70 with this product to file your taxes ($40 + $30 for e-Filing) for both state and federal. Thank to another reviewer which recommended TaxAct I switched this year. I haven't finished it there but $15 for everything (state + federal + e-filing for both) is pretty good. It is just as good as TurboTax. Give the third contenter for tax preparation a chance, you won't regret it.
Turbo Tax review December 3, 2006 Karen Anderson (Magna, Utah United States) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have used Turbo Tax for the last 7 years and I have never been disappointed. This version just goes to show how Turbo Tax keeps on top of changes from year to year. I really like the Deduction maximizer.
Buy it! It's perfect January 15, 2007 E. Smith (Louisiana) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
Turbo Tax is a fantastic product. I am an accountant and have used it for about 5 years. I had tried Tax Cut for one year...to save money...and it wound up costing me in my refund. I found Tax Cut very difficult to maneuver. Turbo Tax is perfect for non-accountants. It asks you exact questions that determine if you are eligible for a certain deduction or not. And if you know for certain that a deduction does not apply, it allows you to save time by skipping. It literlly takes me about 40 minutes to do my return. And that includes adding up all my receipts. It makes tax work easy and 'You'll Smell Refund!' They make it easy to offer options to file for an extension and to set up a payment plan with the IRS if you do owe. Great luck!
It can't get much simpler than this. January 23, 2007 Michael Meredith (St. Louis, MO United States) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
This will be my 6th year of preparing my taxes with Turbo Tax, and from my initial experience with this version it won't be my last. The software installs cleanly and quickly, with a minimum of fuss. And the user interface with it's easy to understand interview format couldn't be better. It's quite the hoot to watch your refund status change as you enter each new piece of information (even if it goes from refund to "you owe"). If you need help, there are definitions and help aplenty. If you're more proficient than me, you can even skip the interview and go directly to the forms. For me though, the biggest advantage of all comes from the time I save doing my state taxes (please, let's not get into a debate on state income taxes, okay?). Within 5 minutes of completing my Federal return, the state return is done and I'm ready to get on with life again.
Beware Turbo Tax no longer works with Windows 98 and ME January 31, 2007 Donald G. Podnar (Tampa Bay) 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
Beware Turbo Tax no longer works with Windows 98 and ME. Quite a few people will be surprised when the load the CD. The Turbo Tax solution is to use the online version. I was unable to transfer prior year information following printed instructions and an e-mail from support. Support suggested my browser was the problem and suggested that I replace it with Mozzilla. I do use Mozzilla and the data won't transfer. I realy like last years desktop version.
