I have used PaperPort for a long time. It is a great tool to help organize office paper and digital clutter.
I upgraded to 10 and was disappointed. I figured I would try 11 and if I wasn't happy I would just return it. I couldn't be more delighted. Its much faster than the previous version loading and displaying thumbnails. The Capture Assistant makes scanning adjustments a breeze. The Watson search tool is very neat. Its so much faster for me now to locate things on the web when doing research for my job. It looks like Nuance addressed all the issues with 10.

I have been using Paperport for over 10 years, starting out with 4.1 on floppy disk. My latest version is 9.0. I upgraded to Paperport 11 and it was like an $89 heartburn. Much of it involved my hardware (Visioneer Strobe XP200 and Visioneer Flatbed 8100). I installed it over my 9.0 and my existing scanner drivers (as the instructions recommended) and all my scanners stopped working. Nor could I uninstall my scanners. I thought I might have to reformat my harddisk and reload everything. It took me over a month, 2 useless calls to Scansoft, the current vendor, (they were no help) and 2 calls to Visioneer which finally solved my problem. If you install 11 over the XP200 Onetouch 4.0 driver, you cannot uninstall the driver. It just stops working. Strange Scansoft didn't know this and in fact recommend installing over 9.0.
Secondly, I did not notice much of an upgrade over 9.0. I returned it and got my money back. Followed Visioneer's advice, downloaded some special programs that allowed me to uninstall 11.0 and all my One touch drivers and reinstall my old 9.0. Much happier now with 9.0, but it cost me over a month of lost time scanning and $89.

I have used PaperPort 6 and 9 and decided to try version 11. This version is slow as molasses! If you have more than 30-40 scans in a folder it takes a long time to open the folder and if you switch between folders with a large number of scans you just wait and wait for the thumbnails to reload! A huge waste of time. Switching from a file in desktop view to thumbnail view also very slow. The current image stays, then fades away as all the thumbnails RELOAD.
I am going back to version 9. I do not have time to sit and wait for version 11 to decide to respond.

The idea of the product is great, only if it worked as it is supposed to?
It is extremely slow, it locks up my scanner most of the time and never remembers my settings; the worst problem is their Technical Support policy, you get one free one, that is usually used up during the installation, after that it is $10 per incident, regardless of if this is their products problem or something you're doing wrong. I don't think I'd ever by another product from these guys.

I found this program more difficult to load and more cumbersome to use than previous editions. It was so restrictive and time consuming I sent it back and decided to reinstall the older edition I had purchased years ago. As seems to be more common, the upgraded editions are more difficult to use and in reality do nothing more than the older editions.
