So fresh and so clean August 21, 2008 H. Nyquist 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This camera is excellent. The image it produces is crisper than the one my iSight produces. I am completely satisfied and highly recommend it. For the people who are having trouble: The camera needs a usb2 connection and only works with os x version 10.4.11 and up.
Caution: Requires Operating System OS 10.4.11 or higher August 16, 2008 8 out of 14 found this review helpful
I believe this webcam may work well as described, however, after receiving it and spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out why my Mac did not recognize this camera I decided to contact Logitech support before returning this camera. I am still using OS 10.3.9 and very happy. But per Logitech; the webcam that you are using is only supported in Mac OS 10.4.11 or higher. The camera is not properly detected because it does not meet the requirement is order to function. This is not mentioned on any of their literature, website or in the wecam instructions. I hope this assists in keeping down the returns.
Excellent auto-focus, good lens & microphone July 29, 2008 N. J. Appleby 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Having read that the Vision Pro is the first webcam to include hardware autofocus and light correction - thus avoiding the no-compatible-software issues that Mac users have had to deal with when using other Logitech cameras - I gave this one a try. Overall it delivers the goods. I compared it side-by-side with the built-in webcam included with current MacBook models, and the Vision Pro compared quite favorably. The image quality was slightly sharper than the MacBook, and when an item (e.g. a text page) was held up close to the lens, the Vision Pro was able to focus in more clearly than the built-in MacBook lens. The only slight criticism I have is that the Vision Pro's image was a little more high-contrast than the MacBook image, leading to slightly over-reflective areas of skin tone under normal office lighting. Those with thinning hair, beware ...
Also works great with Linux and Windows XP September 10, 2008 Josh Lehan (Castro Valley, CA USA) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
The "Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac" title is misleading. It's not Mac only! In fact, it's the easiest webcam I've ever installed, on XP (Windows XP Pro SP3), and on Linux (Fedora 8 and Fedora 9). On XP, it has full native support. It's driverless. Windows XP will install it automatically. It has full native support in Windows, including image preview in My Computer, and image capture for changing your account's icon in Control Panel/User Accounts. On Linux, it was recognized instantly. It uses the "uvcvideo" driver. The "ucview" test program worked, and Skype worked. The webcam uses the new USB video device class standard. This means that it's generic, like a USB keyboard or USB mouse, and will never require a driver. Autofocus and autoexposure (light level) is done purely in hardware. There's no software to install. This is different from the earlier Logitech QuickCam 9000, which depended on Windows software to do the focus and exposure, which lowered the price of the webcam, but forced you to use Windows. The microphone is pretty good for a webcam, but you'll still want a headset for clear conversation. Frame rate is very fast and smooth, 30fps at 640x480. It's not without its disadvantages, though. It's pricey. The included stand is very wobbly, and falls down easily. When set on top of the monitor, gravity's the only thing holding it on, it will slide off easily. Unlike the older Logitech webcams with flexible plastic that could mold into place, this camera has stiff plastic, so it doesn't maintain as good a grip. No zoom. Frame rate gets much slower if resolution is increased beyond 640x480. At 960x720, it's 15fps. At the maximum 1600x1200, it's only 5ps. Anything above 960x720 is just hardware upscaling, as the true optical resolution of the webcam is 960x720. About the only operating system I haven't yet used the webcam with, is Mac :)

Couldn't be simpler. Find a USB port on your Mac. Plug it in and it works. No software to load. No adjustments other than tilting the camera to center on your smiling face.
