Tiger is a great operating system. The last poster's problem was ordering the wrong item, not a problem with the operating system.

Easy to install...easy to use, and best of all I was able to upgrade my HP printer software (free download) making it much more compatible with my Mac!

5 out of 5 stars No looking back from OSX (almost)   March 26, 2007

I purchased a PowerBook last year, so I was forced to start using OSX. Up to that time, I was using OS 9.2 on my G4 tower. Within a month of using OSX on my notebook, I almost completely stopped using my desktop computer because its operating system was so outdated. Finally, I updated to OSX on the tower. Now I have two great computers to work from.

OSX rocks!

3 out of 5 stars From a Wintel user who switched to MAC   December 14, 2006

As a long time Wintel user, MAC OS X has made me realize how decent Windows 2000/XP OS really are. I know I will get hammered for this review from the Mac Zealots, but I think I am entitled to my opinions. =)

I bought a 24 inch iMac 3 months ago. Now I will switch my iMac to strictly use Windows Vista (when it is released).

There are many good things about Mac OS X, but most of them are visual. The MAC OS X is like an old Ferrari, it is stunningly beautiful, but underneath are parts which cannot work with any other automobile manufacturer's components.

1)Safari (OSX web browser) crashes very often. It crashes about once every week.
2)Safari cannot run any Windows based media. For example, if a website uses a Windows media player, then you are left out in the cold. Even Real Player based media cannot not run on Safari.
3)MAC OSX comes with almost no in built drivers for non-MAC peripherals. This is a big drawback since many perhipheral manufactuerers do NOT have a driver for Intel based Macs.
4)MAC OS's use of the right click of the Mouse is at its infancy and most of the OS is not designed to take advantage of it. For example, many applications still need to use the "Edit" menu to copy and paste.
5)Management of online downloads is a joke. They are stored in a folder (you don't get a choice of where the the downloads should be saved) and you need move/copy them separately after the download. Even more annoying was the OSX's insistence that the file GUI to be place on the Desktop (you can delete them).

If you are a long time Wintel user, you will find OSX, while beautiful, is often inconvenient. I suggest waiting for the Windows Vista, and if that OS's improved visuals don't impress you, then try the Mac.
