Quicken 2008 Home & Business March 6, 2008 Larry Hanneman (Sora, Panama) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have been using the Quicken product for many years so I am familiar with the product function and support available. The product interface has changed again from 2005 to 2008 but that is normal and will take some time getting accustomed to the common functions. For the first time since I began using Quicken, there were problems with the new product. After three attempts with product support and one phone call, I was able to resolve two of my three problems by loading a 2008 Quicken R6 patch. The third problem should be resolved with a scheduled Quicken maintenance activity this weekend. Overall, I like the product function but was somewhat disappointed with the support effort provided.
They want you to do all of the work to find & fix their bugs!!! May 4, 2008 M. Allen 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
There are several bugs that they haven't fixed yet. They could update your 2008 with the fixes, but they want you to go online, find the problem from over 200 listed and then try to fix it yourself. If you are not already tied into the Quicken web of products, buy something else, and save yourself a head ache. I WOULD NOT reccomend this product to anyone else!!!
Hard to Use January 10, 2008 Matthew J. Briggs (Seattle, WA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I converted from Quicken 2005 for Mac, to Quicken 2008 for Windows. It was unbelievably difficult. Converting my data took weeks of sleepless nights. The program is very hard to learn/hard to use. It is quirky, the downloads just stopped working for me, I never know if the downloads will work or not. On the positive side, they have 24-hour chat support so you can spend your sleepless nights chatting with a Quicken Techie in India.
Thanks for the warnings about 2008 January 24, 2008 R. Schrader (Minneapolis, MN) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
My Quicken 2005 is becoming more corrupted by the day. Then to make matters worse Quicken started notifying on EVERY transaction that on-line services would end in April. After my experiences with the 2005 product I was looking to jump to MS Money but, seems people aren't crazy about it either. Thanks for the warnings about 2008.
No better then 2006 February 15, 2008 Van Blakeman (Cape Cod & Joshua Tree) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I upgraded from 2006 to 2008 because it said it was finally compatable with PayPal - able to download transactions as It does with my ING and EMEX, etc.. No; it does not! I spent nearly a half hour of cellular minutes with a PayPal rep whose first language was not English, trying to make this work. It does not work. There was no real help from PayPal or Intuit, PayPal apparently requires a fee based upgrade, though I did not explore those options any further. I use Quicken almost daily for personal, business transactions, rental income, stocks, credit cards, bank accounts, and etc. so I know it pretty well. Beyond the PayPal fiasco, there is no significant enhancement with the upgrade; just bells, whistles and ribbons of little value.
