I have been using TurboTax since the ancent past when it was a DOS program from ChipSoft. Intuit seems to improve the product each year. They stay ahead of the ever changing IRS rules and regulations. TurboTax is a unique product. It sells hundreds of thousands of copies that require constant updating and the product will be obsolete in four months. The product relys on WEB connectivity to quickly respond to tax law changes. No product that deals with the IRS could ever earn five stars but TurboTax gets as close as it can in a very imperfect world.
Mac version and tech support both terrible January 27, 2008 Travis 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
TurboTax Deluxe Federal + State 2007 The Mac version has bugs that make its use very difficult. Trying to get someone who has any knowledge of the product via email or telephone is impossible. The email recommendation was: delete your return, uninstall TurboTax, reinstall TurboTax, start a new return. If I was a member of Intuit's management, I would be embarrased by the customer service offered for this product.
Trying to avoid Intuit! January 31, 2008 Luke 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I find Intuit getting more and more obnoxious with their advertisements (do you want to buy this or that? Click this and that.) and software quality (every time one wants a state form printout, the whole state entry sequence had to be done again). This was in last year's (2006) version. I am at a point to find another solution and avoid this company altogether.
SERIOUS BUGS IN THIS VERSION -- DO NOT TRUST THE RESULTS February 10, 2008 D. Featherstone (Chicago) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
I have been a satisfied user of TurboTax since about 1997, but TurboTax Deluxe 2007 (Mac) clearly has some serious bugs. I used the same program, with all updates current as of today (2/10/2008), three times to enter the same data. In the first case, the program INCREASED the amount it said I owed (from about $60 to $150) after I entered deductions & credits, which is obviously nonsensical. In the second case, I had two returns opened simultaneously and entered the SAME data in both. Both returns showed the same numbers for all the summary pages, verifying that all the entered data was the same. But one return calculated that I owed $2,135 in federal taxes and the other calculated that I owed over $12,000 in federal taxes. Both showed the exact same amount of state tax refund (about $120). In the one case, TurboTax told me I would be penalized for underpayment of estimated taxes! My tax situation is largely unchanged from last year, so I KNOW this is not even close to correct. How can the same program with the same numbers come up with 3 different results? It's like the program is randomly making up the amount of tax due! I am a tenured PhD scientist in a major research university, and worked as a consultant for technical software design for several years, so I know how to type stuff into software. Intuit may come out with a bug fix yet this year, but it's already pretty late (Feb) in the tax filing season and I no longer trust their product. Since it is neither my wish nor job to troubleshoot Turbotax, as soon as I get done with this review I am going to order different tax prep software. Maybe I can get a refund for the Turbotax. Otherwise the disc and box are going into the garbage.

I am a Beta Tester and I love testing Turbo Tax I have a lot of fun trying to find bugs and things that don't work. I just love this software. It is very easy to use and very intuitive. It imports financial information in seconds, updates files, figures out your taxes no matter how many deductibles. And even if this is your first time doing taxes You will have fun because Turbo Tax will walk you through it.
