The Best Kids Software on the Market September 11, 2007 R. Glasgow 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
We firmly believe that computer games have a place in our kids education. I have tried many series: Reader Rabbit, Big Thinkers, Smart Start, other JumpStart... This is the best product out there. It is well rounded in its introduction to values, manners and varied kindgergarten skills. My 5-yr old is intrigued by all the "responsibilities." Raising plants, caring for pets, giving others gifts, earning gems to buy items to help others... She is excited to know what her next "badge" will be and what new area of the world she'll open up. I do however have to limit her. She would play this all day.
another great jump start software program August 12, 2007 William Anderson 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
jump start world kindergarten runs excellently with my vista operating system. it is more interactive and better than previous versions. my child loves it! and it is giving him a "jump start"!
Beware of Subscriptions December 3, 2007 Leora (New Jersey) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I liked the product; my daughter learned a lot. Now I am trying to cancel, because every time she uses it, our credit card gets charged $7.99. I had to search for how to cancel; the website says cancel by calling a long distance number (not an 800 number). The number has a long, long wait on it. I have better things to do with my time. Buyer, beware.
Disappointed - requires expensive subscription March 8, 2008 J. Colgan 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
My kids love this program. I was very happy that I purchased it - but I did not realize that it only comes with the first two levels. So for $20 you get your kids hooked and they very quickly master the games in the beginner levels and they can't go to any new "worlds" unless I pay $8 per level. Very Disappointing!! I thought I was buying a package. I would have gladly paid a flat $39 -$49 for an all-inclusive package. But $20 plus $65 (that's the bundled rate) is too expensive!!! (I have a kindergartner and a second grader so I'm in for $170 for both "worlds".) I'm sorry that I bought it. My kids find so many excellent educational websites for free!!!!
Dissapointing December 19, 2007 MDK (NorCal-North East Bay Area) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this with very high expectations but was sorely disappointed. The concept is awesome and if it worked they would be an industry leader. However, we encountered several bugs in the game that made it completely non-functional in certain learning games. If all the games were not accomplished the program would not let the child progress to the next unit. So we reached a point that the game was completely static and unable to move on. We contacted the customer service department and while they were able to fix a few things that were screwed up they stopped answering our e-mails when we got to a bug that couldn't be addressed.
