Annoying but it works! September 20, 2007 Genoveva (The Desert, Arizona) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is finally a typing game I have found that every kid I've seen try it loves it. I've tried numerous typing games out there and they're either too hard or too boring, especially for little kids. They all have loved SpongeBob and can't get enough of it. I've seen a lot more progress from this game than all the others I've tried. The only complaint I've ever gotten, and mostly from older kids, is that SpongeBob's comments get annoying! Throughout the typing excercises he has little comments and remarks which have gotten to a few of the kids I've seen use it, but I just tell them, "turn the volume down" and they're ok with that and continue with the game. They all love the certificates it prints after they accomplish a goal. I am very happy with this purchase.

I'm reviewing this product for my ten year old daughter who says, "She really likes it, but would like the simulated hands on the bottom (like Mavis Beacon)." Other than that, it is a very fun and educational program.

We tried Typer Island (9yo kid) and being deserted on a island with a lousy typing game is child abuse. I read the reviews for SpongeBob and bought it! It was much better, but still a bit of a struggle. It advanced my child too fast during the lessons stating she had mastered keys at 100% accuracy but she was achieving only 8-10wpm (words per minute). The drills should be built into the lessons and associate mastering with specific levels of adjusted (accounts for errors) wpm. VERY IMPORTANT! Your child needs to "play" regularly, 4-5/week. Have your child review the previous lesson games while they move on to more lessons. The picture of the kyeboard during the lessons really help with the touch typing and keeping the eyes off the hands.

We originally saw this CD at Best Buy, and it was $20. My 7YO son immediately wanted it. I told him at that price, we would come home and check the Internet. Low and behold, Amazon had the lowest price on the web (after a quick Google search)! We ordered the CD, and it arrived quickly. We immediately installed it, and my son played it ALL DAY! Then, when my husband came home from work, my son told him about it, and they both played it all night. It is a great little software program that teaches kids to type and does it with one of their favorite cartoon characters! Thumbs up for this software!

Full of games that make typing fun, but doesn't seem to have enough repitition to make the process stick. Still, it was worth the $3 I paid for it. Works perfectly with my MAC.
