DO NOT BUY! May 14, 2008 Julie Rogers (Florida) 32 out of 40 found this review helpful
My husband and I were both excited to try Rosetta Stone. I had six years of Spanish in school and my husband had never had any Spanish lessons. We were both frustrated and upset by our experiences. My husband was having a good time going through the first few lessons and felt he was doing well. I thought we would be able to have a few very simple conversations like "Hi, how are you?" "My name is...", but that isn't the way Rosetta Stone works. I quickly worked through several lessons and became amazed at how useless all the information was. If I was in Mexico and wanted to order food, make a hotel reservation, or just talk to a small child this software would not help. I went through lesson after lesson and was going over Geography and still hadn't seen anything about how to introduce myself, excuse myself or anything that would be of any use in a real life situation. Meanwhile, my husband became frustrated as the learning curve became vertical. He gave up when the lessons were too confusing and I have to say I didn't encourage him to keep trying because I felt it was pointless.
Rosetta Stone V3 Latin American Spanish Level 1 November 15, 2007 Tom DTee (New Mexico, USA) 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
Rosetta Stone V3 Spanish (Latin America) Level 1 Personal Edition (Win/Mac) I was about halfway through the old version when this came out and decided to try it. It is really good, and although the old version was also quite good, this one is much more so. The lessons and the review management are particularly well designed. The language method is much improved and more realistic. The immersion method they've implemented is so good that I don't use the notes I used to use, and also don't refer to my Spanish dictionaries as often as I did with the old version. It is so pleasant to use that I'm not taking as many breaks as I did with the old version. In fact, my progress is so fast I'll have to order Level 2 much sooner than expected. Tom in Arkansas

I think you need to have had some prior experience studying the language before this course can help you.
YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS June 5, 2008 Kristi G., mom of Sage (Rome, GA) 21 out of 35 found this review helpful
You cannot legally sell this software when you are done with it. They threatened to sue me when I did - they said I had not bought the software, but a license for the software and it was nontransferrable - that I did not have the right to even GIVE it away.
Much More Entertaining and Efficient than Classes February 24, 2008 D. C. Munro IV (Millsaps College) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This is an excellent resource for learning a new language. I had taken two years of high school Spanish before using this product and didn't learn as much as I had learned after the first two weeks of using Rosetta stone. The only thing that I dislike about the product is that it uses too much memory to leave it running in the background all the time. Other than that, I would most definitely recommend it to any one who wants to quickly learn a new language in their spare time.
