A must-have for Tablet PC September 25, 2005 S. C. LU (Miramar, FL USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you have a Tablet PC, buy it. It worths every penny. This product integrates all possible ways of taking notes in one place. Typing, writing, recording, video recording, all you can think of for taking a notes, your can find it here. The product tour comes with the installation is really helpful. After the product tour demo, I starts to use it immediately. The multilingual support for title recognition is a great feature too. If you don't use Tablet PC, you can still benefit from OneNotes, but it won't be as useful as the one running on Tablet PC. One thing for Microsoft: Many of the Office family (such as Word and PowerPoint) have a free "viewer" for those who don't have the full version of the software. Is it possible to have a free OneNotes viewer? It will be very helpful to promote the product, and for us to share our notes.
Like taking notes on paper - without the paper! October 3, 2005 SiazPuppet (Bothell WA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
No matter what electronic gadget or program I've tried for writing, tracking, and organizing notes...I've always ended up going back to paper. I like the freedom of "jotting" things down, circling, drawing lines, checking things off, flipping from page to page, etc. At the recommendation of a friend I purchased OneNote and right after installing started using it to plan an event. For the first time I was able to do all the things I loved about "paper" notes with the stability and proficiency of a Microsoft program! It interfaces with all my Office 2003 programs. I can draw my circles and lines...add my check off boxes as well as other designations. It even prints off my "to do" list for me from all of my note pages! My daughter can use it for her school work and was able to pick it up easily. I can foresee many uses for OneNote both professionally and personally.
Great electronic notebook December 3, 2005 Petro von Richter (Hamburger, Germany) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm an organization freak. I can't stand having little pieces of information--electronic or otherwise--sitting in various files or drawers. I like it all in one place with an easy folder and subfolder system. Though I still love my electronic index card program, NdxCards, this program--One Note--is my new standard.
Good in a weak category February 24, 2006 S. Warren (Place called where I live) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have long been searching for a good digital notebook. I think this does that basic job. It's pretty to easy to store your thought in a hierarchical structure. It's pretty easy to transfer copies of your work from other application in either text format or otherwise. Bottom line, it's a good recorder. My criticism isn't it doesn't help your organize or structure your work. It's a quality recorder of, but not a great enhancer of, your thought process.
I'm looking for a product like this, just not sure this is the one January 22, 2007 Erik Eisel (Huntington Beach, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having been through graduate school collecting copious notes on secondary literature, and collecting stacks and stacks of notes, I've been looking for a product -- and played with several different ones -- that could "collect all my thoughts." OneNote is the one that comes closest. Now, it affords me the opportunity to collect notes about my customers -- better than a CRM program! -- write down ideas for speeches I want to give or articles I want to write, and help me remember my karate forms. But, OneNote requires a lot of dedication, especially at the beginning, as you learn the whole tabbed structure for organizing your work. Finally, I've recently given up on this product, since I can only really work on it on one computer. But, my life now isn't confined to one computer anymore. I'm on several, so, lately, I've opted for using Google Docs, which enables me to work from any location. The organization is messier, but, at least, when an idea hits me, I can get it down immediately. A great product, but I question the future of products tied to the desktop.
